Wonderful Stay Had a stupendous stay at the Menger Hotel. We stayed in the old portion of the hotel which was amazing. The bar is a great place to hang out and soak up the history. Stay away from the Colonial Room Restaurant though. Not sure why, but this restaurant is overpriced and served mediocre food. The food was more akin to being served at diner food rather than a restaurant that has served MANY presidents and American legends. I really hope they get that whipped into shape, because Ty at was the only negative from our stay.

Ghost are fine Kitchen Manager is Horrible Kitchen manager was very rude to my driver she told him he could not eat for free and he needed to excuse himself go talk to the front desk. As with any other stay, we are always asked if we are putting it on the room or if we are paying out-of-pocket once we have been seated. he did go to the front desk. Where of course he was told just to let them know he was putting it on his room. Not sure why the kitchen made him feel out of place. But that sounds sketchy to me, and should be looked into. Never have we been told as guests breakfast was not free and that we had to go to the front desk. All three of our rooms were very hot all night long although we did drop the temperature down to 65 the AC never dropped below 72°. The room service was horrible. We paid $100 for breakfast in one room and all the food was cold and unseasoned upon arrival. We asked about the location of the microwave. Instead of giving us directions, he made us come down to the front desk so he could tell us where it was at. _‍♀️_‍♀️_‍♀️ we probably won’t be back.

Beautiful historic hotel with some fixable complaints The property is absolutely beautiful and such a gem. The history is amazing, and it was so much seeing other guests try and track down ghosts in the middle of the night. We didn't have any sightings but we looked :) The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very spacious. I do have some complaints however. The hot water in the shower was not consistent, likely due to the age of the building. And while the staff was very friendly and welcoming, they don't exactly lean into the haunted history of the hotel. The bar is beautiful and I could sit in it all day, but the drinks are horrible so I can't drink there very long. Finally, my second night there, I woke up with multiple bites. I didn't realize until the following day when I was home that it was bed bugs. If that last event hadn't happened, I may have considered staying there again.

Menger Hotel is Highly Recommended From the time that I was first greeted by the valet, to when I checked out 5 days later, the management, staff, and hotel amenities were 100% Spot-on!! The Historic Menger Hotel is a beautifully maintained and very clean. Their attention to detail in all aspects of my stay to ensure I was comfortable was over the top. My room was located in the Victorian section which is 165 years old and this is definitely one area that shows off the Menger Hotel’s attention to persevering history. From the historic walls, doors, ceilings, light fixtures, floor coverings, and everything in between is maintained to its original glory and so clean! I loved just walking around the hotel enjoying all of the old photographs, art work, artifacts, and furniture. Many of the things displayed go as far back as the opening in 1859. During the day I was sure to visit the pool and cool off in the clean huge swimming pool and relax on one of the many chaises while enjoying a frozen margaritas from Mengerita’s Taco. In the evenings I would visit the Menger Bar and eat dinner and have a drink while talking with the friendly bartenders and meeting new friends. So, as you may be able to sense by now, I highly recommend The Historic Menger Hotel!! I have stayed at other hotels downtown, but none can compare to the history, the attentive staff, old world charm, location right next to the Alamo! This was my 4th trip staying at the Menger and I’m already planning my next trip!!
