Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina

Beautiful stay in Paradise We stayed at this hotel from July 23-29, during Comic-Con season. We got this hotel in the OnPeak hotel lottery, our first time trying it and it worked quite well! Our room was in a central location, right outside the main pool's gates and next to the lobby, but it was a little smaller than we were expecting for triple occupancy (last time we stayed here we had a balcony), and with no natural light unless you opened the blinds all the way - not ideal as we were right outside the pool where many people passed by. Shelter Island is a great location, we always love to stay here as it is a little quieter away from the madness of the convention and downtown, and it's very walkable, with many small restaurants, coffee shops, and hotels along it. The distance from the downtown was slightly annoying considering we were going to the convention centre most days of our stay, but the shuttle outside was frequent and we always found a spot. There is also a bus stop on the island and rideshare services, of course. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant/bar was very nice, and with a great view over the marina. Our servers were really friendly (as was all of the staff we encountered). The pool was also nice and empty in the mornings but extremely busy in the evenings so recommend going earlier - it does suddenly drop from 3-7ft however so be careful, especially with kids! You also need a wristband and pool towels, but you can get these from reception. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying at this hotel again.

Great Location Staff and Views Great location, view, amenities and staff. We loved Shelter Island and our balcony faced the bay. Breakfast with a marina view was delicious. The pool and hot tub were relaxing and also had a marina view. There was beauty everywhere we looked. The staff was helpful and kind.

Beautiful Shelter Island setting We docked our boat in the marina and we stayed just a short walk from the docks. Beautiful marina setting. Woke up to an osprey right outside our room, so cool! Walked along the San Diego bay and walked into Point Loma for dinner. Our room was very comfortable and all of the staff at the hotel and restaurant were super friendly and helpful. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend.

Perfect Spotless room beautiful hotel beautiful view clean pool hot tub friendly staff close to San Diego Zoo stores and restaurants will definitely stay again I stayed in the Queen suite 2 Queen beds and a small pull out bed in sofa and a little dining room - room was large perfect for my family of 5

Definitely stay again and again!!! The location was beautiful with great view peaceful and calm feeling at hotel and loved soft fluffy pillows and very comfy bed-it was recommended to us and now we will definitely recommend to others and will definitely stay there again-breakfast at hotel was perfect with great service
