Fantastic Fantastic hotel. We come here every year and will continue to do so. Clean room and great service. ZShawn at the front desk was very professional and accommodating. Dyana with Grand Vacations was great and very helpful and offered affordable vacation packages.

To be avoided Checkin was painful. At 5:30 pm the room was not yet ready and the receptionist made the excuse “it’s a big room.” What? That’s one of several operational issues we experienced. Getting to the main entrance is also interesting - very easy to miss, in which case you end up at a secondary entrance with no services.

Do better Hilton San Diego Bayfront, just do better This is by far the worst Hilton (based on guest experience) I’ve stayed in, having worked for Hilton before I’ve been lucky enough to stay in probably 40-50 hotels over 5 or 6 countries. It’s difficult to describe how bad it is without using profanity. Let’s start with the positives. The facilities are ok, pool, bars, restaurants shops etc. They’re all fine, not outstanding but fine Oh we’re on the negatives already. My main issue is with room reservation. I checked in online as Hilton requested me to do, spent 20 minutes or so choosing a room with my wife and then…. Got given a different room when we arrived. What’s the point? TJ was super helpful on the front desk - he arranged for us to be in a room 2 floors directly below the original room (thank you TJ!!). By 4pm this room still wasn’t ready, and after coming back from a baseball game at 9:30pm it’d been given away again. What makes me mad is that I was given some BS story that the guest extended their stay (checkout is at 11am, and they didn’t know the guest was extending at 4pm???? - BS) . I know how hotels work. It’d be better if you just told people the truth. My family spent hours waiting for our new room to come available, which never existed. Hilton, you stole my family’s vacation time. I think I get it. I’ve had diamond, Gold and now slipped to silver honors status. To be honest you don’t get much with either diamond or Gold (I was once upgraded to a suite with diamond to be fair but you do need a lot of nights for diamond status). So if they can’t offer you a better service with higher tiers, it’s easier to just treat silver/lower status like crap. Then higher status seems comparatively ok. I did find it funny that the priority gold/diamond check in line was so packed it moved slower than the big standard check in line - and the staff (sorry, team members) didn’t even prioritise that line. Literally what is the point of Hilton honors anymore? Added to that Although the lobby and restaurant area seems ok, the rooms and corridors are super dated. Don’t remember the last time I stepped in a bathtub to take a shower or waited that long for an elevator. We also had now shower gel in the room. A few staff (team members) were helpful- thank you again TJ. But overall, nobody gave a damn about our stay. Conrad Hilton had a dream to spread the light and warmth of hospitality to the world. This hotel is an abomination to his dream. Staff (team members) don’t give a crap what’s wrong or how you feel about it. I didn’t see any one instance of going above and beyond to give guests a great experience - you’re actually made to feel bad for having any problems. It’s like nobody cares if you’re even there or not. Some of it even just optics. At a really busy check in time around 2:30-3pm there was a guy on reception just doing nothing. Not greeting guests, just on his computer. It looked so bad that people were waiting 20-30 minutes and there’s a person available…. Just not……available. I’ve never seen this in all my time at Hilton, it would be unacceptable. You’re either front of house greeting guests, or you’re in the back office doing work. Not out in front desk but doing nothing. From my experience, the shops and restaurants are overly expensive. I know that’s how hotels go - but this seems kinda crazy, $6 + tax for a pot of take out cereal. Starbucks was equally bad downside, paying about $8-9 for a coffee (although the staff there were excellent) I’m sure this hotel with thrive. I ile many Hilton’s it lives on its location , but this is being taken for granted and the standard is totally sub optimal. Do better Hilton, do better

Horrible elevators and slow service Elevators are horrible so the wait takes forever. I waited almost 10 mins one time. We also got locked out of our room for almost 45 mins after a very long day of work. We told the front desk that the door lock needs to be charged because our cards worked everywhere except our room but he still insisted that we go back and try with new cards. And then it still took them 45 minutes to come and charge the door lock.
