Not What It Used To Be... Stayed here previously and had a great experience - once with work, once with my immediate family. Here are the good aspects: Island location is fun and beautiful, close to sea world, there are a lot of interesting things for kids - duck feeding, climbing tower, collecting shells on beach, bike rentals, multiple pools. The staff is nice and courteous. Rooms are bright, but not spotless. I take some disinfecting wipes (b/c of COVID), and I can definitely wipe off stains from high contact areas (doors). However, I recently stayed over July 4th weekend and had a very disappointing experience. Brought my extended family for our first "COVID vaccination vacation". We reserved 4 rooms total. 2 of our rooms were under a tree where the ground was completely covered in bird droppings. There was a canopy over my space, but my cousin's new car was painted white with poop - and had an egg drop on the hood (see pic). I complained to front desk and they offered to move rooms, BUT I would have to wait a day AND it would be a downgraded room! They did pay for a carwash for my cousin and refunded parking fees for 2 of our cars, but it was a massive inconvenience and disgusting to be walking in that much poop every time we drove somewhere. There were also families next to us (who apparently rented out the rest of the row of rooms), who decided to bring their own grill and cook up kebabs for everyone in their large party and smoke hooka. The food and hooka created a lot of smoke for our area - we had to walk through it going to and from our room. Front desk notified me that grilling was allowed, but hooka was not. It was a very unbecoming experience for Paradise Point. My door locks also broke during our stay - had to visit the front desk 3 times before maintenance came and fixed it. My family was pretty disappointed. They told me their rooms were not cleaned well when they arrived - stains in bathrooms. There was also another fallen bird egg in front of our room and a decomposing bird in front of our cars that was not removed for our entire length of stay. There is only one restaurant that operates all week. The other one only serves on the weekend - so we had to go out for most of our meals. I used to recommend this place to both family and friends. I will no longer be doing so. I am disappointed because it was one of my favorite places to stay in the SD area.

5 star prices, 3 star experience 5 star prices for a 3 star experience. I’m sure it was once a great resort, but it’s well past its prime. The rooms are average, the amenities are average and the infrastructure is well-worn. We expected some post-COVID hiccups, but even with that factored in, we felt the service wasn’t up to par. There are better places to spend your money.

So disappointing We came here for a family birthday and were sad to find it is far from luxurious. The quality and care alone does not justify the high price tag. Our room had no toiletries, peeling paint and a broken bed frame upon arrival. Repeated calls to the front desk were never answered. Upon speaking to the front desk in person, and asking for a manager, we were met with "we are short staffed due to Covid." This also seems to be a party location and not solely for hotel guests. The neighboring room had parties every night with around 20 people in a 4 person room, many we found to not be staying at the hotel. They spilled over onto our patio and used our chairs. We spoke with the neighbors several times before calling the front desk. Despite saying they would send staff over, no one ever arrived. Our other family members had similar issues with their neighbors. The only bright light was our server at the restaurant. We decided to contact management after we came home and we have still not gotten any resolution, only excuses and push back. What a disappointing stay and very stressful trip. Please do not waste your money.

1st Post-Covid vacation!! I’m a review customer and this resort had high scores/reviews but also some minimal negatives that I was a little concerned about. We’re on the last day of our 1st summer trip post-Covid and it was amazing!! I didn’t mind the minimal housekeeping services because they’re very prompt in bringing you anything you need. The resort app is a must!!The grounds were beautiful and you can see their staff pays attention to detail! We loved Rich and can tell he Loved his job!!

Really surprised by the negative reviews I have pretty high standards when it comes to hotels (I just returned from a stay at The Four Seasons), but I also appreciate a deal. I was traveling with my 2 boys (ages 12 and 10). I wanted a hotel with pool access and something close to the ocean, so I picked this place and was pleasantly surprised. I paid $233 per night and I have to say, for that price, my room was a steal. We were a few steps away from the open bay (Mission Bay) and our access felt private. There are five pools on the property, but we stuck to one, which was also close to our room. The kids had a blast! Our room was very clean and practical, large closet, toilet and shower separate from sink and vanity, king size bed (which was comfortable), pull out couch, and a really nice grassy patio area with outdoor games. There was only one restaurant on the property that was open, but it had a lot of options and was reasonably priced, probably less expensive than your standard restaurant. There was a convenience store on-site, also reasonably priced. Our room was not cleaned daily, but I was aware that due to COVID, it would not be. Good help is hard to find post-COVID, so it's understandable. However, whenever I called to have my trash emptied or asked for extra towels, someone came in a timely fashion. Whenever I called the front desk, they answered and in fact, prior to my arrival, I had a few questions and someone always answered the phone and my questions. I'm a runner and what a great location! Was easily able to get a 9 mile run in along the bay (the gym wasn't great). A few nice touches...my husband joined us for a day and they gave him a free parking pass and didn't charge me extra. I had my own parking spot right next to my room. Fire pits all around the property for making smores or just hanging out, plenty of outdoor games; just an overall really nice family vibe. I felt like we were camping, but had the luxury of a nice room and restaurants. There is an adults' only pool, but if you're looking for some quiet couple time, this may not be the place for you. It's very casual and family oriented (aka lots of kids). It was unseasonably cold during our stay (high 60s end of June), but the pools were warm enough for the kids. I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews. My review is based on the price I paid and I was really pleased. I'd definitely stay again, but sadly I heard they are remodeling it in November. I hope it's still affordable.
