Turn out better than I expected. Nice Hotel I am very excited for the time when hotels are fully open and benefits loyal customers are used too, return. I was unable to use suite awards from Marriott on this 5-day visit. I contacted the hotel in advance and was happy to find they went out of their way to get us a nice location balcony bay room (which I reserved), and I was pleased. The rooms are nice. The balcony over the bay is great and they had housekeeping while I was there, which I loved. There is no concierge lounge open, and no place during week to get a real breakfast, so that benefit was out the door replaced by discovering some great local breakfast spots within an easy walk. The room has nice balcony, and big desk, good internet, a small refrigerator and coffee. It would be 5-star when the amenities return. The location is awesome, so that is important. The trolley stops right in front and we didn't need a car to get around.

Terrible service We arrived at this hotel after taking a red eye from the east coast. We had made reservations. When we arrived they seemed to have some trouble finding our reservation and then we were told we were in an adjoining property, something called the Marriott Bonvoy , so we had to re-boar another shuttle bus and to the other property. Our room had a balcony overlooking the marina but the room was worn down with stains on the carpets and a tear in the sofa cushion. We decided we wanted to get a drink only to be told that the only bar was back in the Marquis Hotel which was about 1/4 mile away and we would need the shuttle unless we wanted to walk. We declined. The room telephone also did not work. The next morning we double checked our reservation only to find out we did indeed have a reservation at the Marriott Marquis where we had originally arrived. They ended up giving us our room credit back and we did get some kind of take out delivery breakfast in the morning. We also discovered the so called gift shop in the Bonvoy building was not operational. Marriott has a good reputation but this facility and the service was terrible. We would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Watch for fraudulent changes! Watch out for fraudulent charges. I finally got a email receipt for my stay and found out that they put on a charge on for self parking when I didn't even have a care when I was in San Diego. Then I called them and asked them to take off the charge. The lady was completely distracted and I had to keep repeating the situation, and finally she said that there is no one there on the weekend who can take of this fraudulent change on the weekend. A charge that they put on during last weekend. Unbelievable!

The Best A big and probably long-overdue review of praise for the entire Marquis SD staff and Tim Herrmann (GM). We started staying at this hotel for conventions and it has become our go to, being in San Diego as my family is here often. This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed at anywhere in the world and the views over Coronado watching the fighter jets and helicopters buzz around is amazing and inspiring. This is a team and staff that understands how to take care of guests, particularly Marriott Bonvoy elite members. I have seen a lot of elite members discouraged with staff accommodating them post pandemic but this is the staff that understands customer service. Stayed here a dozen times and will continue to stay anytime I can in San Diego even though there are a multitude of choices.

Thanks for helping make our anniversary special!! This was our second time at this hotel. We were always treated very well, better than any Marriott we have been to. I am Titanium elite status with Marriott. We stay at Marriotts a lot. Never ever have we been more satisfied about a hotel stay than the two visits to this wonderful place. Great location! We received room upgrades! Excellent staff! They make us feel special compared to every other Marriott I have been to. It’s hard to give others good reviews after experiencing this amazing service. Thank you Marriott Marquis San Diego!!! This Hotel is a huge reason we chose to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in San Diego.
