Wonderful stay It was a very comfortable and pleasing experience for us We celebrated my hubby’s bday at San Diego and decided to stay at US Grant Really good location and service was good absolutely gorgeous hotel We were given a room but we requested an upgrade as a lifetime titanium member and we were finally upgraded to a legacy junior suite which made for a beautiful and extremely comfortable stay Walkable to little Italy and even walked to balboa park Overall I would recommend the hotel Thing to remember there is no pool and the restaurant and bar even though gorgeous were good but not gourmet

Not worth the Luxury Price tag This had been on my mom and I's list of hotels to try in the San Diego area. Sad to say it definitely did NOT live up to the hype and the big price tag. The surrounding area has unfortunately gone a bit downhill post Covid but living in the area I knew that and don't hold that against the hotel. The rooms in the hotel were large but very sparsely decorated. There was only 1 chair to sit in. The coffee pods offered for were some of the worst coffee we had both had. So much so that we instantly threw out what we made and I bought other K cups to bring back to the room for our other nights. Our room was situated in the elevator lobby area on our floor. Like our room wall was connected to the wall of the elevator. We could hear the elevator running all night long as well as everyone getting on and off and chatting in the area. The window in our bathroom was directly across to an office. We had to keep the shade down the entire trip in order to have any privacy and not have the other room see in. I have had better stays with more amenities and comfort at Best westerns than we did here. It was definitely not worth the money we paid.

Excellent Service, NOT Covid Friendly Environment. This historic hotel is not in a great surrounding location but is walkable to the central rowdy night street of the Gaslamp quarters. A lot of abandon old buildings and homeless on the streets,. Typical of a downtown vibe in the US. It’s within walking distance of the convention center and Seaport Village. The hotel room beds are comfortable. The interior decor is classy and nice. The shower has good water pressure. They offer prepackaged ice, which is an excellent idea for those who carry portable water coolers. The cleanliness of the room and the hotel are both ok. Exterior Windows lack washing and are caked up with layers of dirt and dust. Making room views are not great. Layers of dust on the bed board, window sills, and other areas. The room amenities are typical. Nothing was noted beyond what you would find at any other hotels like the Westin, Embassy Suites, or Courtyard. Customer services, Valet parking services, and all other interactions with hotel staff are excellent. They are all very nice and polite, especially in the dining area where they can get close to you to discuss the menu items. However, increasingly, not all staff wore a mask in the middle of a Covid delta variant case.

Great Service and Beautiful Hotel I stayed at the US Grant both before the pandemic and after. On both visits, the staff was extremely kind and friendly, the hotel was super clean, I had a comfortable room/bed, and the food was well prepared. Actually, it’s very difficult for one American breakfast to taste different than an another as eggs are eggs and bacon is bacon. Somehow in this hotel the breakfast just tastes much better than other places. I recommend an oatmeal they have that is topped with walnuts, coconut, and roasted pineapple. Jose did a great job in the restaurant. My only complaint, which is totally on the city and NOT on the hotel, is the unbelievable amount of homelessness on every street corner. Walking with my wife it was uncomfortable with comments made by street people. You will see people sticking needles in their arms and urinating outdoors in public. It’s OK for a visit but nothing on Gods earth could make me live on the West Coast.
