Reasonably priced hotel in good neighborhood Great hotel--perfect location-was able to get Cable Car to the warf right next to the hotel. Whole foods right nearby. Comfortable beds--nice pool right outside our door. Too cold to use unfortunately but it was nice to look at. Very safe garage-we got in very late and accidentally left our car keys in our rental, unlocked, and no one bothered it for 2 days.

Book It! Hotel is located in Knob Hill. To my dismay there's a multitude of shuttered restaurants one the main street. The hotel is very nice, the staff is superb. The rooms are clean with nice views of the bay and surrounding area. Showers were clean and had great pressure, Be prepared to share the elevator with the cleaning staff, maybe they don't have service elevators for them to use? Regardless, the front and rear of the house were superb, desk agents, security, guys in maintenance, and housekeeping The breakfast buffet is superb and has many options for worldly travelers. We had a rental and this place was conveniently located to everything. There area is Safe. Both Managers, Mr. Gino and Micheal George was great and maintained a professional welcoming demeanor!

Foggy and Chilly but FUN!! The hotel was nice and clean. We stayed on the 16th floor. The reception area has a grab and go case for quick meals and it also has a small sit down café. We did not eat at the café but I did get a grab and go yogurt parfait for $8! Nothing you do or get in San Francisco is cheap. But we knew that going in. The room was spacious and clean. It had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower and hand soap and lotion at the sink. They were not small bottles either. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom. Here is a list of the things in the room. Steamer plus an iron and ironing board. Mini fridge, but it did not seem very cold so be careful what you put in there. Safe in the closet, Alarm clock, Keurig with coffees, decaf and regular, and some teas. The problem with the Keurig is that they have it in a drawer and not on top of the dresser so it is taking up a valuable drawer. There is literally ONE drawer to put your clothes in. There is a luggage rack in the closet to use but it seemed like a waste of space. There are tables and chairs in the lobby if you wanted to go down there to play a game with your family. There is an outside pool on the 6th floor that is heated and has towels there for you. We did not swim because even though we went at the end of July the city was chilly and foggy. They have laundry if needed and a gym. The one drawback is that you have to have your room key card to get to any floor except the main lobby. Sometimes your card works and sometimes it does not. I found myself riding to the floor of whoever was on the elevator with me until my card was recognized and I could punch in the floor I actually needed. The ice machines are located on Odd number floors so keep that in mind when booking. The hotel has parking for $40 a night. This was actually cheaper than some other hotels. There is a Whole Foods one block away that we went to a few times. We bought snacks for out room. They have a food bar that we got dinner at and it had Vegan options for my son. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance too. The hotel is located about 25 blocks from the Bay area and easily accessible to just about anywhere you want to go. It was constantly chilly and foggy in the Bay area so watch the weather. Once we got outside of the area it was sunny and beautiful. I recommend taking a ride in an autonomous (driverless) car while in San Fran. You will see them everywhere! It was so fun and I felt totally safe. We were sad that it was so foggy and misty and chilly but I did hear the local news say on August 1st, welcome to Fogust. It did not stop us and we did lots of things outside of the city like Napa Valley, Yosemite, Muir Woods and Silicon Valley.

Inflexible, rude management If I could leave zero stars I would! Our flight was canceled due to the Microsoft glitch. We were able to rebook 2 days later, but the hotel had zero flexibility regarding the 2 nights we would miss. Ok. We’ll just eat that cost. Stuff happens. Our rescheduled flight was rebooked then canceled again leaving us unable to go at all. When I called, the hotel the manger was incredibly rude and not at all understanding. He literally said that it wasn’t his problem and that our reservation was nonrefundable with no exceptions. So not only did we miss out on our CA vacation, we also had to eat the more than $1400 cost as the hotel refused to refund or even change dates! Even a partial refund for the remaining nights when I called to say we wouldn’t make it at all would have been acceptable. But they were completely inflexible. You would think that a GLOBAL outage affecting travelers worldwide would have afforded an ounce of understanding. Not with Holiday Inn Golden Gateway! Yet our much cheaper Wyndham hotel that was booked for the second leg of our trip to sequoia national Park had no problem canceling our reservation with zero fees when I explained the circumstances. When we do finally make it to CA, Holiday Inn Golden Gate will NOT be an accommodation I will even remotely consider!

Happily memorable! Great location, excellent service and amenities. Fantastic view to the Bay, GG Bridge and Alcatraz from our expansive room windows (got a corner suite) at a high level so views were spectacular! Would thoroughly recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!
