Quirky hotel in Japantown This was our second stay in about 2 months during covid to visit museums and see friends. It is great to see more people at the hotel. They even tried to open the bar for the first time, but apparently there was a problem. We like the decor, but we especially like the location in Japantown, which has been our favorite SF neighborhood for decades. It also seemed, like last time, that our room was upgraded, probably due to availability, but nothing was said. I like that.

Charming and unique yet practical A fantastic and unique hotel full of charm and character yet at the same time providing all the benefits of being under the umbrella of a large chain (Hyatt). Lots of interesting art in the room and the lobby. The manageress, Joyce, was great in accomodating all of our specific requests. The location in Japantown is charming - the hotel did provide a great list of recommended restaurants and bars at check in - would have been ideal if we received it ahead of time so could have booked some of the more popular ones. They also have one of the best hotel gyms I have every seen with excellent equipment and a very fresh feel around the Japanese garden Overall we had a great time.

Beautiful Hotel The hotel was so beautiful and the location was prime for visiting the city of San Francisco. Hotel staff was so helpful with my early check-in and the complementary breakfast goodie bags were delicious!

Reliably wonderful hotel On a trip with my teenage son, I returned to the Hotel Kabuki and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is great - spacious rooms with balconies, nice bathrooms, wonderful lobby and amenities, and a fantastic location in Japantown. The hotel is perfect for us - in a safe, clean, interesting and fun part of San Francisco, walkable to the Fillmore District, Pacific Heights, and even Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The Japan Center underground parking garage feels safe and secure and the hotel has a direct entrance from the garage. Lots of great food choices (especially Japanese) nearby and the Japan Center malls are a lot of fun. The hotel staff is very friendly and caring, room was comfortable and quiet, and we had a terrific 4 night stay. This is my go-to hotel in San Francisco and I'll certainly be back!

A Bit of an Alice In Wonderland Experience I stayed at this hotel years ago prior to its upgrade and the hotel is certainly better now than it was back then. The hotel has a great location in the heart of Japantown, within walking distance of the fun Filmore shopping area. The lobby area is vastly improved, with lots of comfy seating and a good long work table. However, the bar is closed – which is a major downside. The conference room is large and the gym is good. The rooms are more of a mixed bag. The windows are poorly sealed which caused me to hear quite a bit of road noise and the curtains to blow around. The towel hooks are weirdly placed, on one side it assumes the occupant is 4 feet tall and on the other side it assumes that the occupant is 7 feet tall. The shower is enormous, which is great, but the bathroom sink very tiny, so there is no place to put toiletries. There is no dresser for clothes. There is good lighting, comfy bedding, and lots of outlets near the bed, which the hotel lacked prior to its renovation. Another weird thing are the doors - every other room door has a groovy painting on it. This makes you feel either special or ignored, depending on your door decoration status. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have done work in commercial design and I think the hotel hired a rookie for its renovation. Although none of the issues described – except possibly the lack of a hotel bar – were huge issues, cumulatively the hotel provides a bit of an Alice in Wonderland experience.
