Disappointed Family My husband and I have been vacationing at Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde with our children for the past 14 years. Year after year, the staff members have greeted us like family and remark about how our children have grown since they have been coming since they were babies. We love the pool and the beach and how clean everything always is outside. This was our 12th stay at Courtyard Isla Verde but I have to say that for the first time in 14 years, we were very disappointed. I know that Puerto Rico has suffered a lot with the Hurricanes and COVID pandemic but we felt like the changes made to the service will only drive customers away. Years ago, there was a salsa band and dancing in the bar area/nightclub in the main lobby but the hotel did away with that several years ago. This year, they changed the hours in the Banana Café to 7am - 4pm. Such a waste. We could always count on the Banana Café for evening and late night ice cream, cookies, brownies, soda and coffee. Now there is no place to get a snack after 4pm. The pool bar and lunch service was still top notch but the clientele at the pool left an awful lot to be desired. We expect so much more from Courtyard especially when we are paying over $800/night for our stay (not including meals). Through the years, we have been surrounded by businessmen, families and young couples/singles but they always acted and dressed appropriately. Unfortunately, that was not the case this year. Breakfast was the other thing the hotel management has destroyed. We stayed for seven nights. On all but one of those days, we waited over 40 minutes to be served cold eggs and burnt French toast. The breakfast cost $18 per person. So I expect a hot meal and proper service for that price. The eggs were artificial and the breakfast buffet of past years was completely done away with. We were told that the hotel could not find enough employees to properly staff the restaurant and cafe but there was no shortage of guests. And the room rates have increased. So I'm not sure why the hotel cannot afford to hire employees. Every year we would see the same employees. But this year we found only one of the former staff members remaining. All of the hotel staff who would greet us so warmly were all gone. Even the managers were gone. The manager and hotel front desk staff that we spoke with left a lot to be desired. Every year, I book months in advance and request adjoining rooms. Every year, my request is granted. This year, we were told that the adjoining rooms were all given away to Wedding guests. The clerk and the supposed manager were terribly rude when we told them that we could not be placed in separate rooms from our children. They placed us in two rooms on opposite ends of the floor. My 12 year old daughter noticed that one of the rooms was actually half of an adjoining room. So they gave half of an adjoining room to a couple who didn't ask for an adjoining room and they ignored our request and placed us 10 rooms away from our underage children. And then when we brought this to the hotel manager's attention, she told us that she would not ask that couple to move. And she said there was little chance of us getting an adjoining room anytime during our 8 day stay. So rude. My 12 year old went back upstairs, knocked on the other couple's door. Told them about the situation and they agreed to allow us to have their adjoining room because we both had ocean views and they understood we needed to be together. The electrical outlets in the rooms need to be replaced because they are all broken and could easily cause electrical fires. The carpets need to be replaced as they have lots of foot traffic and were put down many years ago. I am very sorry to say that after spending $8,000 at this hotel, I expected much better service. Unless, sweeping changes are made, this will have been our 12th and final stay at Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde.

Great in so many ways This hotel had a wonderful beach with quick access that extends beyond their property for over a mile each way. Not much in ways of snorkeling and smallish waves, but great for relaxing swims or relentless fake fighting with your kids. We were always able to get beach chairs if we wanted them. There are two pools, but it is really one pool with a small wall separating them (for seemingly no reason?). Still, big enough to play around in, even if we spent most of our time at the beach. My son loves being able to eat in the pool and this has a poolside bar/restaurant. The restaurants were mostly very good. The pool had delicious chicken fingers (which my son was bummed that they ran out and couldn't get them the last few days we were there), and I enjoyed the coconut shrimp. The caesar salad with chicken was all right. The Cafe Tropical breakfast was mediocre. Our son could not make an edible breakfast for himself from the buffet offerings. My wife and I thought it was ok, but not great. There is a Denny's about 1/2 mile away that we went to on most days (though the wait could sometimes be horrifying). Their main restaurant (not open every night) is Sirena which we all really enjoyed. My favorite was the sea bass and the fried red snappers. My son loved the steak. My wife enjoyed the chicken. The chocolate cake was delicious. When Sirena was not open, we ate in a pleasant bar area next to Sirena. Similar food options, with strip steak, pizza, and pork chops being popular and delicious options. Sirena and the bar area are outside by the beach. Beautiful scenery while eating. You can also eat indoors at the bar, but we never tried it. There is a small casino that we didn't try. There was a coffee/ice cream shop (though it wasn't open for ice cream while we stayed there) that we didn't try. And there was a small convenience store that had meds and some snacks/drinks. There is a grocery store called Pueblo that is about a mile away. Worth going the first day to get some supplies (you could get sunscreen, bug spray, along with water and other food/drinks). You have to pay for parking if you have a rental, but it isn't terrible and we always had parking. The rooms are clean, and we had a balcony with a nice view of the ocean. My son was impressed at the architecture and how they maximized the ability to have ocean facing balconies. The beds were comfortable. The TV was good and had a better than usual selection of stations. There are some reviews saying that the hotel was overrun, but that wasn't the case when we stayed there. Maybe it depends on the weekend. Really, there were only two negatives. One, it is close-ish to the airport. While convenient to get to and from the airport, there will be plenty of ambient airplane noise, including at night and in the morning. It ruins the mood, but there's not much they can do about it. White noise for the room? Better sound proof around the outside? The second thing is the elevators. There is nothing they can do about it now, but there are only two elevators. This can cause unfortunate delays for the down elevator especially (COVID restrictions make this worse). Many times we went down the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator. The price wasn't great, but not bad. Overall a great experience. A little farther from San Juan, but a little closer to the East side of Puerto Rico (including the rain forest).

Friendliest Staff Ever!!! My fiancé and I got to the Marriot a week before his brothers wedding (held at the hotel). As soon as we pulled up we were greeted by the nicest valet man (ugh I’m so sorry i forgot his name….but you’ll know who I’m talking about when you see him). We got there early and he made sure our bags were safe and brought right to our room as soon as it was ready. He was always our go-to person for food and entertainment suggestions. All of the valet people were amazing!! Next up was our favorite of all, Antonio at the pool bar!!! Our first day there we already felt like family. He was so nice and helpful when it came to our drinks. He helped us make new friends in the pool and we couldn’t wait for the rest of our family to meet him. He waved and made sure to ask how we were every time he saw us. He really made the trip honestly! We had to snap a picture after our 10 day trip! The hotel is extremely clean and the wedding was a huge success. No complaints about the hotel at all. Casino was a plus!!! I’m not the type to go to places more than once, but I’d definitely go back here!

Good deal The hotel has a great access to the beach. For a 25 dollars resort fee you have access to chairs, umbrellas, towels, pool and bikes. You can also use the parking garage for a 15 dollars a day fee. Very good prices for these type of hotels. The restaurants offer simple food at good price. Not the great but ok for a bite. This hotel is the last one in a line of hotels and condos in Isla Verde, which places it a little further away from restaurants. Thanks to this, this hotel is more family oriented. If you are looking to party all day this is not the place. The rooms are spacious but they look a little tired. We paid 170 a night. Now they were charging 600 a night. That’s way too much for this hotel. I wouldn’t pay more than 250-300. Overall a good deal

Girls quick getaway trip for tired healthcare workers seeking post COVID relaxation ☺️ Prior to staying at this property for the first time, I came to Trip Advisor like always. Some of the reviews are pretty brutal, but we booked anyway. The truth is, it is a gorgeous view right on the beach with good Marriott hospitality. Isla Verde beach is gorgeous and always has been. The Pina coladas are made with love, and the service that we received was excellent overall. More truth: the food (we ordered lunch by the pool) is just so-so, but to get authentic PR food one must not depend on the Marriott. The service by the pool and inside of the property was prompt, friendly, and kind. Attention to wiping surfaces and keeping the place tidy was noticed, and the room/bed linens/toiletries were keeping with Marriott quality one would expect. This is not the Ritz, but it was safe, clean, and hospitable. My good friend and I had a very relaxing and fun little getaway; I would consider visiting this location again. Thank you Marriott!!
