Very Nice Resort, with a few shortcomings I recently returned from a three night stay at the La Concha Renaissance. This was my first time visiting San Juan, and overall, it was a very good choice. Before arriving, I was a little concerned about the hotel, since many of the recent reviews described mediocre or poor experiences. Although arriving at 12:30pm, a room was available for check-in. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the Ocean Front Corner Room. The entryway with Kitchenette took up nearly half the space in the room, a small bedroom area, and a bathtub with enormous window that required a shade to be drawn at all times. There was a table and chairs on the balcony, but nowhere to sit inside except on the bed (no chair, desk, or couch). The furniture and fixtures were also quite dated. After visiting the pool and eating lunch, I returned to the front desk, and asked if another room was available. I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite in the same building, which was very much appreciated. There was a spacious living room with two different seating areas, and a large shower in the bathroom. While still dated, this was a huge improvement over the original room. La Concha has three different pools, and a great beach area. Be careful when going in the ocean, as the water can be very rough! The hotel has placed signs warning of the rough surf and lack of lifeguards. Although I didn't use the fitness center, it was spacious and had a good selection of equipment. Each staff member I encountered was helpful and very friendly! A couple of downsides: (1) Unlike at most hotels, where the resort fee is a flat rate per night ($40-$45, etc), at La Concha, the resort fee is 18% of your room rate. The more you pay for the room, the higher the resort fee. At $352/night, I was paying almost $64 for the resort fee, which is too high! It seems like most hotels in Puerto Rico use the same percentage method for determining the resort fee. This makes no sense, since everyone has access to the same facilities! (2) There was no housekeeping during my stay, as you had to be there at least 5 nights for them to clean the room. However, I was able to request fresh towels on the third night, and they arrived quickly. It would be nice if housekeeping could be performed at least every second day. I was in Florida last month, and both hotels I stayed at offered daily housekeeping. Overall, La Concha is a quality resort. The Condado location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. I walked the three miles to Old San Juan, but most people would probably opt for a taxi or bus. If they renovated the Suite Tower rooms, and brought housekeeping back, this could be a very special place!

Honeymoon at La Concha We stayed at La Concha for our honeymoon for 6 nights at the beginning of August. We were very impressed with the lobby when checking in and the process was fast. When checking in I told the gentleman at the front desk that it was our honeymoon (which I also put in the reservation when booking) and he told us congrats but that was it. I know many hotels do something special for honeymoons but I guess they don’t here. We had booked a Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite. The view from the balcony was beautiful but the rest of the room was very underwhelming. It looked nothing like the pictures on the resorts webpage suggest. The room looks very dated and not at all the modern decor we had expected. The room was only made up twice in the 6 days we spent there however they did drop off the bottle of wine we had under the promo we booked. The property was nice and the men on the beach setting up chairs were great. The pools were nice as well. We ate at Solaris twice and both times the food and drink were really good. Overall we really enjoyed our stay but if we do come back we wouldn’t waste the money booking one of the top room categories that did not live up to our expectations.

Loved it This hotel was the bomb, it was so last minute and they was able to accommodate with no reservation but the hotel is very welcoming and entertaining you have complete pool and beach access 24/7. Which was an plus, We stayed in the ocean view junior suite the view was amazing, the room services was very quick and attentive as well as housekeeping. The hotel also has an casino however I didn’t get to make it in there but when I go back I will for sure I love the overall vibe but the one thing I would recommend is not going when peak Season the room was really high but honestly I still would stay at this hotel

We lasted 5 Hours and moved to another hotel Due to flight delays we got in at 3 am. The music was so loud in the lobby we could not communicate with the front desk personnel and they seemed disinterested in communicating with us. Luckily, they were not following their own Covid rules and were unmasked so we could kind of read their lips. We had go downstairs twice to get the sheets we needed to make up the pull out couch which featured a mattress that could not have been more than 2 inches thick. Room smelled of mold which we discovered was due to the ceiling being moldy. Coffee machine broken. Shower was falling off the wall. Shoddy finishing throughout. As soon as we woke up we found another hotel. Hate to think that first time visitors to the island think this is the best on offer. It isn’t. We found a much MUCH nicer hotel for $200 less with double the size of suite (and mattress!). Would have taken more photos but was too tired and focused on getting out. We were supposed to paying $850 a night for a moldy, shoddy room at the La Concha with a $100 “resort fee” added on. This is a hotel of last resort not a resort hotel.

Hard Pass, over priced, sub par service and dated facilities Arrived at 3am due to a flight delay, looking forward to a week stay. Lobby was heaving, couldn’t find anyone to help with the bags, had to yell over the music at check in. Arrived at our room to find fold out bed was not made. Called down, then walked back down twice. 45 minutes later, housekeeping showed up. Coffee maker broken, mold on the ceiling, artwork on the floor which was was covering an electrical box which was open. Ok if you are paying $300 a night, but for $1,000 not acceptable. We checked out next day, and went next door to the Vanderbilt. If you are 25, at a Stag party and don’t mind over paying, hotel could be an option, otherwise pass.
