This place has become a scam... First I booked the room for my kids and I because I seen a nice deal. After booking I find out I am going to get charged 35$ for a "resort fee" and 15$ to park in their parking lot. There is no other option to park anywhere else so you have to pay these fees. They try to sell you all these packages - wands, build a bear, bowling, etc. I would recommend not to purchase anything until you are there. I purchased the breakfast package which was 55$ plus tax and thinking it was a buffet. It was a tray with 5 tiny pancakes, scrambled eggs, some meat, potatoes, small fruit cup, and one drink. You can order more if you want but its not that good. When I looked at the prices it was the same as purchasing it there so its pointless because my kids wanted cereal and other things on the menu. Also we had to wait 40 minutes on a Tuesday morning to get a table even though there were many tables available. The pool doesn't open till 10am and check out is 11am so my kids missed that hour window to swim. There is a Dunkin doughnuts there if you prefer to get sandwiches from there too. The bowling is 24.99 for the family but I got charged about 8$ a person and they didn't want to adjust my card. I also got charged 80$ for towels that we returned but we didn't scan our wrist band when we did because NO ONE TOLD US TO. When I called to get my money back for that they transferred me twice and I was on the phone for an hour and a half! Why would anyone want to take used thin old towels?! As for the water park I would say its okay for younger kids under 8. Kids over 8 will get bored after a half hour and will want to go play in the arcade which is crazy expensive as well. A VR game for couple minutes was 40 credits! So just a heads up everything will add up once you get there. I would recommend Kalahari over this place its cleaner and less outdated and less boring and your time and money will go a better way overall.

Disappointing food at high prices colored the whole trip. Every year we go to a Great Wolf Lodge in a different location and this year we went here with a group of friends to the Sandusky location. The lodge itself was not bad if a little packed as you would expect an indoor waterpark to be in OH in January. Unfortunately, the food is what brings this review down significantly. As normal the prices were high since you pay for convivence, but unfortunately this time the food quality was horrible. For food, drinks and dessert we spent about $350 before tip for our group of 5 adults and 4 kids which wouldn't be so bad except the three of the orders had to be sent back for taste and quality, and the rest were only flavored by the salt and pepper we added to them. Even the water park food was bland enough that my kids didnt want to finish their chicken or fries because they werent as good as the frozen stuff we had at home.

JUST NO! I made a reservation 60 days in advance and then decided to stay elsewhere because we felt the property was in need of updating. It looks shabby and for the money I could book a better accommodation. It was nearly impossible to process my refund. First I tried to cancel online, but no option to do that. I could upgrade my suite, add on amenities - all money in their pocket, but no cancel link. The agent I reached said I had to pay a cancel fee when I was told that there would not be one when I booked (more than 60 days out). Then she kept telling me (3 times) that she could not find the card on file that I had used to make the reservation. Apparently she did not see an issue with being able to refund my payment with no card on file and asked me if I wanted to give her another card! I felt like I was being scammed. Finally, I asked for a supervisor and with a little effort he managed to process my card refund. All of this took well more than 30 minutes - it was frustrating and upsetting to say the least.

May be good for those with small children only I wanted to provide an adult perspective of what you will encounter should you visit Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky. It was just my wife and I that went for a two day getaway, and while the lodge never promotes themselves as catering to couples, they definitely do not. The resort is geared toward pre-school to early elementary age children. We saw very few older kids, and I think we were the only couple without children there. I was hoping there might be some aspects that were adult only, but there are not. We chose to visit figuring the Water Park would provide a relaxing, 80 degree atmosphere, but I was surprised how loud it was. I guess being enclosed amplified the sound, so if you are bothered by noise you might want to take this into consideration. I hoped the lazy river would provide a relaxing space, but it was not well monitored. It is a very short route, and there was no consideration as to how packed it got. Also, empty rafts were never removed, and anyone is allowed in without a tube to go swimming by. Several times my tube ran into a little one trying to squeeze by. This hardly seems safe. I suppose in an attempt to have something for the adults, there is a bar in the water park but it's next to an area with lots of kids and not secluded, and there were kids seated near the bar. On a positive note, the water park is very small, so I'm guessing it would be easy to keep an eye on the little ones. Seating is limited at the water park - we entered when they opened at 10am and chairs were taken within 30 minutes. There are no loungers, just chairs. Most chairs were used for "storage" of clothes, bags, etc. There are lockers but we did not need one. The lodge portion has many activities for the little ones, so if that is what you are looking for you might be pleased. But be prepared for excessive noise in the rooms area – hotels can always be a bit noisy, but here the running in the hallways, slamming doors, etc. was constant. They do have a quiet time that starts at 11pm so there was a respite. Food - we had lunch at Buckets located in the water park. The food was fine and fairly reasonable price. We ordered coffee and bagels twice from Dunkin' which is located in the lobby but has limited hours. You can order in advance from the app which reduced the wait time, but service was still very slow at both places. To be fair, they were both quite busy and I noticed only 2 people working at each location. We had pizza delivered both nights from Chet & Matt's Pizza which is very close by. They are super tasty and very friendly, with quick delivery. You do have to meet them in the lobby which was easy. Another annoying aspect was the up-selling. Before we even left our house I received a text offering a late check out (for a fee.) When booking your reservation and again when checking in you are offered to add on various kids packages, dining packages, and cabana rentals, all at an extra charge. As many reviews have stated, there is a $15 per day charge for parking in an unsecured open lot. You will also receive frequent texts from Willow, their AI assistant, also trying to up sell. Bottom line – I would not return and the only group I could half heartedly recommend The Great Wolf Lodge to is those with small children who don't mind the noise, up-selling and parking fees.
