One thing ruined this stay for us. One thing ruined this stay for us. Shame as the location was good. The pool was very nice. The room was spacious. The issue was the mattress. The dip in the middle was like the Grand Canyon. Ruined my nights sleep. Those mattresses need to be replaced.

Great all around! Wonderful hotel centrally located to everything in Santa Barbara yet tucked away, any cute neighborhood. I had been to this hotel several times for their restaurant with family, but it never stayed there and was always impressed with the variety of food and local beers on tap. Prior to this stay, I had called the front desk several times for some requests about check-in, etc., and they were very accommodating and helpful. I found myself to be very welcoming and gracious. I was really impressed with the size of the room, the cleanliness and the amenities, especially for the cost. The only downside was at the pool area, where it was a beautiful day, however not enough lounge chairs to accommodate the amount of people there.

Santa Barbara Hotel We would give this hotel mixed reviews as there were pluses and minuses. First, the positives: the staff was very friendly and helpful across the board. The other thing we really liked was the restaurant on the property: we ate mostly breakfasts which offered an excellent variety of choices and each that we had was excellent as was the serving staff. As there are not any restaurants very close by, this was a real convenience. There was a nice pool on the property--we did not use it, but it looked clean and inviting as did the pool area which offered both sun and shade. The room was somewhat disappointing--it looked dated. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The air-conditioner did not seem to cool despite lowering the thermostat. There was a microwave and coffee maker (as well as free coffee in the lobby 24 hours) in the room, but we missed having a refrigerator. The location was in a residential area--offering quiet, but a little too far to walk to the downtown or Wharf areas. If you are a good walker, this may not be a problem for you. Per other reviews, it sounds like they have refurbished some rooms, so you might ask to be in one of those. I don't believe ours was one of them.

Severely Disappointed I reserved an Apartment Style Room with 2 Double Beds for 1 night. The room that we had was vastly different than the pictures that we saw on the website. Our room was shabby and looked dated. The sofa was lumpy, couldn't hold its shape and the upholstery was tattered. We checked in at 7:00 and asked for a rollaway bed. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, but said that there would be a 20 minute delay in getting the bed to the room. Since we were all famished, I asked if we could get the bed after dinner. He said that would be no problem at all. When we called at 10:00 o' clock to have the bed sent to the room, there had been a shift change. The new front desk gentleman said that while they had one available, there were no "maintenance" people around, so we couldn't get it. He was apologetic and said that he could bring up extra bedding instead. What?! If there was going to be a problem with delivering the bed later, why weren't we told so that we could make an informed decision? They could have delivered it while we were out if it was a staffing issue. I think it's a real problem that we were given misinformation and that they were so understaffed that we couldn't be serviced. My son had to sleep on the floor! This really put a damper on our stay. I am also extremely disappointed that not one person on staff offered to make amends for this gross negligence. Very poor customer service.

Pleasantly surprised! We were on our way along the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to San Francisco and decided to stop in Santa Barbara for two nights. We booked the hotel last minute, and like most accommodations in Santa Barbara, it wasn't cheap. Traveling with two older teenage boys meant we had to book two rooms. Check-in was very efficient. We were given a map of the area along with details of all the things to do nearby. We were fortunate to get refurbished rooms, which were beautiful and clean. The rooms were a good size, with a comfortable bedroom and bathroom, and even a small balcony. They were equipped with a microwave, which was a nice touch. Rooms are cleaned upon request. The pool was a decent size and pleasantly warm. The hotel's restaurant offered a good variety of vegetarian food at a reasonable price. Overall, our stay was fantastic. Book it—you won't go wrong
