The best deep tissue massage I have ever received. The Resort , JW Marriott Guanacaste is a gorgeous paradise. Every individual is extremely polite. The entire time spent, 5 days was very relaxing. My main focus was the massages for both my wife and I. Both masseuse ladies are beyond exceptional. They are extremely kind, very very strong, and provided a truly memorable experience. I highly recommend their service.

Not a 5 star Resort The staff says "No" almost every time you ask. The resort has 5 restaurants but you are at their mercy and open when they want to. The steakhouse was the best option but closed on Monday night. You can order room service but only what's listed. It's to much trouble to get a mixed drink as we were told by front desk. Our first room was dirty and overlooked a hill. Staff doesn't understand English or care to. Pool is great, nice beach area. kids screaming everywhere, and poolside service starts at 11:00 and ends as soon as it rains around 2. Rooms have an expresso maker, and an empty fridge. You have to dial 0 for everything so no answer most of the time. Very disappointing for our first time to Costa Rica. It's an hour and 1/2 rough ride from the airport even in a Mercedes.

Exceptional Experience in Costa Rica This was an exceptionally well operated resort. The property was clean and well maintained. We had the pleasure of the best suite in the house. Ocean front one-bedroom suite with a private plunge pool. Definitely recommend you seek out this room if you want the best. Our experience with the JW Guanacaste started well before we arrived. We reached out to the concierge, Anthony, with several questions about COVID testing, transportation, rooms, and activities. He always responded very quickly to our questions. Anthony connected us up with TAM for offsite activities, GO CR Vision for transportation, and a local clinic who did the COVID testing in our room. Perfect and the results were back that evening. The resort was well staffed. We cannot say enough about the personal attention we received from the staff. Vladimir, Dennis, and Eddie who worked the pool bar and restaurants were absolutely outstanding. They remembered our names and what we liked to drink. Juan helped us several times secure restaurant reservations on short notice. Steven out front was a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to talk with. The level of personal attention we received really made our stay memorable. Our stay at the JW Guanacaste has to rank in our top 5 for beach resorts we have visited. Thanks to the JW team. We will visit again.

Family Resort Large resort , family oriented with nice large pool area, pool service very limited. Pet friendly for an additional $100. Although a beach front hotel , there is not a comportable nor inviting beach area. Except for 3 chairs and one umbrella off to a side it was an empty beach after the pool. Beach area needs to improve greatly, it’s what so many think of when booking a resort, adding chairs, umbrellas and service is essential.

Not worth it I’m sorry to write this, but this place is overpriced and just doesn’t feel special. The location is gorgeous, but not practical. The beach is not swimmable. It’s covered in rocks, the undertow is not safe, and it’s swarming with dragonflies. The pool is hot, so not refreshing, and everything is too expensive. Burgers are $25. Breakfast is $17. We spent the previous 5 days in the rainforest at a really nice hotel and that felt special. Meals felt expensive, but reasonable. This is 3x the cost. Maybe this works for a couple, but not a family. The other thing is that we’re trapped here. A cab ride for a family of five to go to town is $100. If coming to CR and exploring upscale hotels in the Tamarindo area, I’m sure there are better places to have a luxury beach experience. Or perhaps Marriott could run free shuttles to a real beach.
