Crummy motel, uncaring management We checked in on a Saturday afternoon and then left to enjoy beautiful Santa Monica. We briefly returned from our walk and left for dinner. When we desired to settle in after 9 pm, we noticed the sink wasn’t draining and asked the front desk to help. He came in, took a look and told us that since he wouldn’t be able to find someone to fix it at that hour, we would have to leave, since there wasn’t another room available. We weren’t assisted in finding another reservation nor even given the option to stay. So at 9:30 on a Saturday evening, I had to find another reservation in Santa Monica. I was lucky to find something, but of course I had to pay more at that last minute. I sent an email to the management asking them to consider reimbursing us for the difference of what we had to pay after being evicted from their hotel and they refused to acknowledge that they had evicted us as well as refusing to acknowledge any responsibility in assisting us financially. There are much nicer hotels nearby, with nicer and more professional staff and management. We had to pay $180 more, but it was worth it. Do not stay here, as you really don’t have any assurance that your room will be functioning nor that the hotel staff will help you if there is a problem.

Sea Blue Hotel absolute NIGHTMARE! If the front desk clerk who we dealt with on Saturday March 20th still is employed here... RUN.. DO NOT BOOK HERE! We arrived to check in at Saturday at 6pm and we were informed by the front desk clerk that he could not check us in as he was on break and would get in trouble. But he proceeded to give us keys to the hotel room so we could access the room. As I was not feeling well we went sleep and the front desk clerk then banged on our door at 930pm to check in. My boyfriend who was registered on the room went down to check in for us and the clerk whose name is John told him I had to come down in person. I am still recovering from long term effects of having COVID and was upset that the clerk would not work with us.. I called the front desk upset with the news and John then went on to question if I was even really sick which he felt was not true because he saw me walk upstairs to get to the room... it is very upsetting to have someone question your illness and extremely inappropriate. He then informed me he was kicking us out and called the Santa Monica Police to the hotel. My boyfriend is a flight for life paramedic and I am a 5 star Airbnb host and have received nothing but 5 stars everywhere I have stayed. We were taking care of my elderly father in LA and wanted a break for ourselves. This event was beyond disturbing. Neither my boyfriend nor myself have ever had the police called on us. My boyfriend is on the front lines daily saving people’s lives and he really needed some downtime. No words can capture how upsetting this was for us. The hotel should have two people on duty so if one bad apple behaves in this manner it can quickly be addressed. As long as this hotel employees this individual, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Slightly disappointed Stayed here for 2 nights. I had no idea they charge $35 per night for parking so that was an unpleasant surprise. Also there is only 10 parking spots with more than 10 rooms so if you arrive later you’ll have to park 3 blocks away at the civic center. Also the junior suite I booked looked nothing like the pictures online. There was no bathtub which my kids like having, and was one of the reasons I chose here. It was always either too cold or too hot in the room. The staff was friendly, but seem overworked. The beds were pretty uncomfortable with horrible pillows. I guess some of the rooms are nice. The location is perfect though, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

never again Cheaper than other hotels in the vicinity, but you get what you pay for. We were told we could check in early (at 3). We arrived to nobody in the lobby, which was locked. So we waited in our car for warmth til 4. The room was worse than any motel I've stayed at, let alone hotel. Before booking I asked if the rooms have tubs, and was told only the junior suites. So I paid more for a suite, and arrived to no tub. No coffee or tea in the lobby as advertised. But also no kettle in the room? Was told this is due to covid. What does a personal kettle to boil water in a room have to do with covid? The reason I needed the kettle? To keep warm! There is no central heating or radiator in the room. Just one tiny space heater that hardly heats within a few feet of it. In winter, right on the beach. And this is a suite... with two separate bedrooms... and one tiny space heater is supposed to suffice? We told the concierge we were worried about the no heat, and he nicely brought another space heater immediately, but it didn't work. Other bummers that made us check out early: the room was dirty. It felt more like a half-dirty apartment than hotel room. The floors were not vacuumed. The only chair in the room was stained and gross. It just would've felt icky sleeping in that bed. No hand soap in the bathroom. No body wash. No insulation between rooms (LOUD). And because it's wood floors and not carpet, you hear your neighbor above's every step. We told the concierge our concerns, and he offered for us to check out with a full refund. He was actually extremely nice and pleasant. None of this was his fault. Only bummer with him is that I now have a $36 charge on my card even though he assured us it would be a full refund. We asked him for a receipt as proof of cancellation/refund, and he said there's no such thing, and just to look out for the authorization reversal in the next few days. So in the end, we paid $36 for a half hour tour of a terrible room we luckily didn't have to endure a cold night in...

California life My son is going into the Marines so we wanted to road trip to California to spend some time together and he said that we must stay in Santa Monica. Found this little gem and it was at the heart of everything he wanted to see! He went to the pier and checked out other shops, I just wanted to have some margaritas and hang out on the beach. It was great! Parking is less than desirable but we we able to get a spot one night and park at a nearby garage the next night.
