trip back in time If you ever wondered what it was like to live the good life in 1900 or so, this is the place to find out. South Broadway Manor has amazing antique furniture and original gas fireplaces in the rooms. There was gas lighting too, but sadly modern insurance insists on electric light. That said, the brass placards from the original Edison lights telling people not to be afraid of the electricity are still there. The innkeeps, and maybe the owner too if you are in luck, can tell you some fascinating stories about the property including the prohibition era whiskey. We stayed here to go snow tubing and it was fantastic. A nice fire is a great way to warm up and there is a kitchen area so you can make your own late night drinks and snacks.

Just Go! We couldn't have been more lucky to find South Broadway Manor on our travels, and meet Mark, the most generous and hospitable innkeeper we've met. He certainly knows how to treat guests --from the smaller details on comfort to the great morning breakfast of homemade delights. My husband and I were driving across PA for the purposes of visiting family. As we had to leave quite late from New York, and caught bad traffic/weather along the way, we decided last minute to stay a night somewhere in the middle. We called a few B&Bs and none could accommodate due to the last minute reservation and late hour of our arrival (1am), but Mark not only accommodated our hour of arrival, but helped us secure some late night snacks and drinks for our stay. It felt as if we were staying with family or a close friend! We stayed in the anniversary suite which was so beautifully decorated but somehow equally comfortable. There is a living room when you first walk in which has a nice fireplace and large seating area. The kitchen is perfectly sized for a small family/couple, as is the bathroom (with whirlpool tub). The bedroom is just flat out amazing. I literally walked in, sunk into the mattress, popped on the tele, and enjoyed Mark's late night snacks. What an incredible place to unwind! In the morning Mark was flexible with breakfast to allow us to sleep in a little. Breakfast was first course baked apples (amazing), then stuffed French toast with sausage and lovely coffee. We followed breakfast with a tour of the house which was very interesting. We even tasted some prohibition whiskey! Overall we we were just blown away. Mark took care of all the details of comfort, and is an excellent cook and host. We've literally traveled the world and have stayed at hundreds of boutique hotels and B&Bs, and this easily topped our list (and we only stayed a night). We are already planning a longer trip back!

wonderful stay We've been to at least 15 B&B's in multiple states and we felt this was among the best. Innkeeper Chef Michael was personable and friendly. The manor and grounds were impeccable and comfortable. We stayed in the Federal Room which not only was decorated beautifully, it had a separate reading room and a large private balcony to go along with a nicely appointed private bathroom. There was obviously much consideration to the details to make our stay comfortable. We chose to have Chef Michael prepare a dinner and were quite happy we did. His personalization of the menu and how he tied the 3-course meal together was a treat. The breakfast was equally well done. It's obvious the difference in meals prepared by a chef as opposed to the typical breakfasts made at many B&B's. We would consider a return visit when staying in the area in the future.

20th Anniversary done right Wanted a B&B nearby some cross-country skiing for our 20th anniversary. Pat (owner) & Michael (chef) went out of their way to make sure that everything was memorable and affordable. This is not your ordinary "Mom & Pop" B&B. I highly recommend staying for dinner.

Fine dining in gorgeous time period home The owner gave us a fantastic tour of her historic home filled with museum quality collectable. The chef from NYC (who has been on "Chopped" and other "chef" shows) is her innkeeper. The meals were amazing!! The host and chef were VERY personable. Had a great time and felt pampered. Additionally, we had a good time cross-country skiing in Laurel Ridge State Park and touring Andrew Lloyd Wright's Falling Water Home.
