Nice Laid back, good staff, nice shops nearby. Signage could use some improvement! Firewood has to be purchased and that ended up costing )40 which is outrageous.
Sad that the pool was closed. We camped at Whittlwton campground, good sized sites and water/electric. Natural bridge was amazing!

Grumpy Guest Services The previous poster must've had the same front desk clerk that I got on the phone. First she told me there were numerous rooms, both queen and king. When I requested a particular room if available, which I do every time I stay (I'm a "frequent flier" and like the view from that balcony), I was told it was impossible to say if it would be available or not. When I said we'd figure it out when I got there, I was told, "Honey, there's nothing to figure out." She then told me only ONE room was available. When I asked its location, I was told "in the lodge." When I asked if it had a mini-fridge, I was told "it has the same things as the other rooms." I asked if that was a "yes" or "no," and she repeated her answer. Thankfully, before driving there, I thought at the last minute to just confirm that the pool was open, only to be told that it's closed for the season! When I told her, in that case, never mind, she hung up on me!
Somebody at NBSRP got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Very poor experience The lodge itself could use some updating, but it was nice enough for what we expected in a state park. We arrived early and didn’t expect that our room would be ready, so our plan was to take the kids to the pool until check in time. We went on in to the front desk to check on things and the person there very rudely told us that it wasn’t even close to check in time and we just needed to come back later. When we mentioned our plans for the pool we were then informed that the pool was closed for the season. When she saw our surprised look she once again very rudely told us that it was on their Facebook page and on their website. Our reservation had been made long before the pool broke down, and we didn’t have any reason to look at their Facebook page or website after that. The response we got from her was basically a “sorry about your luck, and that’s the way it is.” She claimed that text messages had been sent out about the pool. We did not receive one. We were informed that our reservation could not be cancelled at this point. We decided to stay and make the best of it, but the availability of a pool was a big factor for us when making these reservations so that there was plenty for the kids to do. Our stay pretty much went downhill from there. I encountered only 1 friendly staff member while we were there. All others treated us, as well as other guests as though we were a complete inconvenience to them. We arrived in the dining room for breakfast the next morning at 9:20. The continental breakfast was to be open until 10:00. As we were going to the buffet an employee came out with a small pan of scrambled eggs and announced that they would not be replenishing anything at that point. We had to hunt her down in order to even get plates to eat from, and once again a very rude response when we asked for them. At 9:45 she pulled all the remaining food and drinks from the buffet and counter tops. We travel frequently and stay in many different types of accommodations. I’ve never encountered the rudeness and total disregard for guests that we experienced here, and we witnessed many others having the same concerns. I don’t like leaving completely negative reviews, so I will say that our food in the dining room the first night was very good. Our overall experience was so poor that we only stayed for 1 night of our 2 night reservation.

Nice place to stay and a short walk to the Bridge Fall is one of their busiest times. It is usually sold out on the fall weekends, so don’t plan on arriving early to get a early check in by 3:00. Ours was more like 4:00, but we just went out and grabbed a bite to eat. The room was better than expected. Due to the age of the lodge I thought it would be way outdated, but it had comfortable beds and was very clean. The balcony was very large and had a view of wooded area. The continental breakfast was exceptional. Had something for everyone. A good place to stay and a lot of trails right outside your door.

Beware The room was very old and dated. It smelled awful, like a combination of mold, urine, smoke and strong musty odors. We were supposed to stay 4 days, but after 2 days we developed respiratory allergic reactions and had to leave.
The carpeting was sticky. The fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and could not be used. The screen door slammed shut when used. For the same cost of the room, you can stay at a very nice, clean hotel with a much better breakfast.
The pool was a walk down about 7-8 flights of stairs which meant coming back from the pool was the same treck UP those stairs. No elevator. The pool was nice but its also a public pool, so more than just lodge guests can swim there. It was crowded with kids at one point. Its only open from 11-7. This lodge needs a major overhaul and renovation. Don't stay there.
