Hotel has gone downhill! This place has really gone down hill! Front door was peeling and looks like it was kicked in. Carpets were filthy, No early check in allowed front desk staff was very snotty. Overall the rooms were disgusting. too much to list see pics. Ants by the coffee station and food no hot breakfast during the week only weekends.

Beware and Read Reviews It's sad this nice location has turned into a hotel disaster. We have been here twice in 3 years. This time, it was unacceptable. Everything you read is accurate, but we were fortunate that our stay wasn't as bad as other recent postings. The place is to be turned into some type of apartment housing in the future, so nobody is interested in maintenance or upkeep. There are issues too numerous to mention, but bring your sanitizing material if you come here. Yes on dirty air filters, carpets, paint stains along with hanging toilet paper dispensers. 3 forks and no teaspoons in a sparsely appointed kitchen. We cleaned everything upon entering with wipes. Unfortunately, Somers Point hasn't much for lodging that's appealing.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS The woman who checked me in at the front desk was surly. I asked if any of the hotel was renovated and she informed me the hotel was closing after the summer. That likely explained why our room looked gross, to the point where I would not walk barefoot on the carpet. Housekeeping had clearly cleaned it but it was decrepit. Rust on the closet shelves, dirty lampshade, door to HVAC filled with dust (so anyone with allergies would have a hard time here—I kept sneezing). Another reviewer mentioned small towels. Well, how about NO towels, just two washcloths. When I called the front desk to ask Housekeeping to bring some, the front desk woman informed me that Housekeeping was “very busy” and I could come get them myself. I was in a rush to get ready for a wedding and asked if they could be brought and two more times she told me to come get them myself. At most hotels, if Housekeeping neglected to leave towels they’d bring them as a courtesy, but this hotel clearly could have cared less. The tub looked gross: They had glued on a white piece of plastic to hide rust and discoloration but some was still visible. Avis had slapped new paint onto the room (there was blue paint drizzled over the tub) but it was like putting lipstick on a pig. I went to the front desk and promptly checked out—driving two hours home at the end of the wedding that night was way more appealing than staying there. I recommend avoiding this sorry excuse for a hotel if you can and finding a place where the hotel cares about its guests and the quality of its rooms.

Will never go back to Avis on Mays Landing My husband and I had stayed at this location when it was Sonesta Suites. We had always enjoyed our stay. However, since the new ownership, it is not the same positive experience. There was a huge rust stain in the tub, the toilet paper dispenser had been removed from the wall and not replaced. But the towels were the worst! We had never seen such small bath towels in all of our years at any hotel anywhere. They were a little bit bigger than a hand towel. It was like child-size and the most ridiculous. The room smelled musty as well. The only positives were the pillows and the pool. I would not recommend this hotel. You're better off at Pier 4 or Watson's in Ocean City.

TLC NEEDED Definitely needs some TLC! Entrance door looked horrible. Once inside very spacious but carpets were very stained. Went to make breakfast next day, only ONE pot (large pot), no frying pan, no cooking utensils, just tongs! And for a place that technically could sleep 8 people there was only THREE FORKS _. Has a dishwasher but no detergent for it. On a positive side the beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was good. Hopefully new owners will do some improvements. Management also needs to keep better track of when people check in & out. Had someone use a room key to enter our room when we still had another day before we check out.
