Berry Hill Resort A very relaxing beautiful and historical property. The rooms are very well decorated, we try to book room with a balcony..The tavern restaurant is fabulous we've been back a few times.. Bang bang shrimp is the best I've ever had! Ever item has been 10/10. You will not be disappointed Make sure to ask for a tour of the mansion, and don't miss the happy hour

Perfection for a spring visit Just spent 4 days at Berry Hill. I have to say that every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive and helpful. The event manager out did himself making our stay a dream. The tavern was fun, the library bar served fab drinks. And whoa - the mansion brunch was sooo good. Our room was clean and comfy. And the views were great. Can’t wait to visit again!

Pack Your Patience & Lower Your Expectations Expectations just simply weren't met with this stay. And because things aren't reflected properly on their website, I do want to point those out along with the positive things we experienced. Positives: 1. Lovely grounds 2. Historical 3. Budget-friendly for a hotel with spa and amenities (but see negatives for follow-through on this) 4. Peaceful 5. Quiet rooms Negatives: 1. Things like Yoga and activities/amenities shown on website don't exist. They need either remove them from the website or work on activities, as there isn't much to do besides spa and walk around outside. 2. If you want to eat the included breakfast, you literally need to get there when they set it out. They run out of everything and can't keep up with keeping dishes out and such. We went at 9am (breakfast runs til 10) and were very disappointed. My suggestion is if there is a convention there, like there was 10/27-10/29, then breakfast might should be set up separately for them or for general guests looking to relax and not eat at 6 am. 3. The spa was a let down. While they try, it's just not a real spa experience. Inconsistent pressure during massage for both me and my mom. Elizabeth who did my massage smelled of cigarette smoke when she breathed out around me. This was distracting. We did a package service and had to move from space to space, so I would have also expected spa robes/sandals, but only my mom got sandals. Also, when upstairs, all the staff just talk and gossip in the back, so when you are waiting, you hear everything. Just not very spa-like. 4. The food: Darby's Tavern was good. The Mansion was a total letdown: salad swimming in dressing to where it was inedible and same with the pasta. I was pumped to have a glass of wine in The Library, but they substituted cheap wine for what was on the menu and charged the same price. For example, I ordered Sauvignon Blanc. It was supposed to be Villa Maria, but it was Matua, which I see for like $9 at the grocery store. 5. The staff just seemed clueless and overwhelmed. They typically didn't know answers to questions and maybe need more training before sending people the wrong direction or with incorrect information. 6. The Parking-dear Lord! It's a pieced together gravel lot with guests having to park up on the grass, fight for parking, etc... They need more parking. 7. Super dated! I expected historical, but the rooms/bathrooms needed a lot of help, as well as couches and other parts of the resort throughout. The bed posts were leaning badly, cracked tiles all over, the old-school hair dryers attached to the wall that take forever to dry hair. I hate that we just didn't experience what we had hoped for a relaxing Mother-Daughter getaway.

Relaxing historical site convenient to Virginia International Raceway We found the hotel to be eclectic and really beautiful. Check in / out were easy. Breakfast was all gone by the time we got to the breakfast nook. There was a large outdoor concert in the area so they were completely booked. The spa was good but our couples massage was in different rooms. So, it felt more like two separate sessions.

Beautiful Resort - Day Trip in an Unexpected Area We did not stay at the resort - we came it across accidentally when we were in the area for a ride and was looking for a place for lunch. Darby's came up as a recommended pub/tavern which is located on the resort. Resort is beautiful, staff is friendly and Darby's was a wonderful lunch with an extensive menu with many options and reasonably priced. We are already looking at going back and staying the night!
