Gimme a TV..... Our stay was just average overall. The room was a bit dated, but ok overall. The TV didn't work on the first day, which put a damper on our 5-day stay. We reported it to the front desk, and on the second day, they sent the on-duty maintenance man. He was able to bypass the cable box and get us access to just the most basic channels. However, the hotel did not try to fix the TV or get us another room for the rest of our stay. Also, the housekeeping service pretty much consisted of us flagging down the housekeepers to get some new towels....substandard for a 5-day stay. Also, there were several hotel maintenance-related trucks that took up much of the small parking lot -- they should have concentrated them in on area away from where most cars parked. Breakfast each day was pretty good. With a bit of effort, this hotel could rate 4 or 5 stars on TripAdvisor.

Wonderful staff, hotel and stay We had an excellent stay at this TownePlace in Springfield that surpassed our expectations. Firstly the staff was absolutely amazing! Starting with the GM Chelsee Marshall and everyone on their team was respectful welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We ordered groceries but we hadn’t made it to the hotel and the staff put away all our groceries in the fridge so it didn’t ruin. The GM listened to our difficult circumstance we were visiting Virginia for and accommodated our stay to make sure we had enough space and accessible accommodation. The rooms themselves are very clean spacious and equipped with appliances if you want to cook. We had a three party reservation and the rooms was very spacious and comfortable to have us all stay for an extended period of time. There is hot breakfast provided and the hotel is clean, extremely quiet and away from hustle and bustle. Would highly recommend.

Terrible For Business Travel - Does Not Honor Reservations or Guarantees For my trip to Washington D.C from September 12th – September 14th my stay was booked at the Townplace Suites by Marriot in Springfield Virginia. On the initial date of travel, September 12th, the Townplace Suites contacted me and indicated that they had oversold their hotel, and had to move myself and my colleague to a different hotel nearby, the Windgate by Wyndham. The Townplace Suites indicated that because they could not honor our reservation, they would pay for the reservation at the Windgate by Wyndham. This is typical for these overbooking situations. When we arrived at the Windgate by Wyndham and tried to check in, the front desk agent informed us that while Townplace Suites had made a reservation and put a credit card to pay for the reservation, that the credit card was declined. We then called the Townplace Suites who indicated that they could not fix the issue, and that we would have to pay for the reservation at the Windgate by Wyndham but that we would later be reimbursed. However we should only pay for the first night, as the second night we might be accommodated as anticipated at the Townplace Suites. We paid for the first night on the existing reservation made by the Townplace Suites, at the Windgate by Wyndham. We then checked out on September 13th. After contacting Townplace Suites, on September 13th, we were told that we still could not be accommodated at the Townplace Suites, and we would need to book our own reservation for the 13th to the 14th at the Windgate by Wyndham again. We were told we would also be reimbursed for this second night as well. We then made the reservation ourselves for the 13th to the 14th, After returning from the trip, I discovered that I had been charged by the Townplace Suites for a night that I never even stayed with them! I contacted the Townplace Suites to inform them and have them remove the charge and their response was to place a second charge on my credit card, even though I never was able to stay a single night with them. After several weeks of back and forth, I was finally able to have all of the erroneous charges removed from my credit card. I repeatedly contacted the Townplace Suites and Marriot customer service and they told us I would receive reimbursement within 10 business days for the 2 nights at the Windgate by Wyndham (in addition to the $100 I am entitle to as a Gold member who was walked). This was not the case, and the Townplace Suites has ignored my continued attempts to reach them. Stay away! They do not honor reservations, do not make things right when they make mistakes, and might just charge your credit card even if you do not stay with them.

Cancelation fee I accidentally booked the wrong hotel and tried cancelling shortly after booking... it was more than 24 hours before checking in and I was charged $141. And they would not make an exception. I never had issues like this with Hilton.

Do not book here! Do not stay at this hotel! It's a dump! I'm trying to understand how this hotel is even associated with "Marriott". We stayed in Room 422. It reeked of urine. I suspect dog "piss". The smell was overwhelming. I cracked open a window but it wouldn't stay up so I had to use a coffee cup to prop open the window. We ran the a/c hoping that might help but it didn't. I started feeling sick and asthmatic so maybe there was mold in the a/c as well. Anyway we went out for dinner but when we came back the smell was still very strong. The whole vibe of the place is just grimy and disgusting. We never stayed the night. We left around 10 pm and checked into Marriott courtyard down the road. Hoping I will get my money back on that room.
