Memorable Experience The Verandah was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. We came here for our honeymoon/ my birthday. We stayed for a total of 9 nights the last week of July. My initial impressions were that it’s very well kept and I could see the upgrades. We were welcomed, checked in, and taken on a cart with a brief introductory tour, then finally to our room. We were explained the concepts of reservations for some restaurants, and where to do that. It’s also easy to book excursions either on the resort or off the resort at the little desk. Our room had a view of the ocean with a balcony. The room is SUPER cold, wonderful AC, the bathroom was spacious. We were greeted with champagne for our celebration too. We did a few excursions: calypso cat tour (elite islands), stingray city, and zip lining. My favorite was the calypso cat tour. It was so cool to learn history of the smaller islands, snorkel, and hang out. We booked a couples massage and did the bamboo massage. We were so shocked how good it was and how relaxed we felt, if you have time definitely check it out. The food at the resort is SO good. We loved the Italian restaurant the most! We went like three times. My husband really liked the seabreeze restaurant and wished it was open more lol!! Night life is pretty cool, they always have the schedules posted so you can gauge what’s going on. This resort also has watersport activities. You can either do guided or check out equipment yourself. We snorkeled the entire little cove by the resort, it was so cool!! Our highlight of the trip was always spending time at the sports bar. When you’re craving a late night snack or drink that’s the place to go (shoutout to David!!) Our personal tip— we rented a car from the airport. It was easy to adapt to the left side driving, but it made the island more accessible. We even went to the movie theater on island. On top of the resort, we really got to explore Antigua overall. We met so many cool people, the experience was truly invaluable. Overall— I HIGHLY recommend this place. It’s clean, everyone’s so kind, food is amazing, it’s relaxing, you’ll never forget it.

Wonderful Time! We just returned from a Sister's trip to the Verandah and we had an amazing, relaxing time. Staff: Five Stars - Plus - What makes this resort (and the entire island) stand out from the rest is the people. The entire staff was amazing and helpful. Cleanliness: Five Stars - The room was spotless and always cleaned to perfection during our weeklong stay. The grounds were beautiful and kept up. The pools and public areas were always clean. Food: Five Stars - the food was better than expected with variety at the different restaurants. Our favorite place was the coffee shop. What a great place to get a morning coffee or refresher drink and pastry - morning, mid-day or late night snack! The staff at the shop were very kind and patient as we decided what new drink we were going to try. Lovely! Sails and Tails was our favorite place for lunch or dinner. Outside view with a relaxed lunch or dinner. Why be in a hurry - relax, enjoy the view. Breakfast - we were always so happy to see Theo during our breakfast. His contagious smile was a wonderful sight every morning. The good never disappointed us. Drinks: Five Stars - Leon at the main bar always tried to find us a drink he thought we would enjoy and always did. Getting Around: Five stars - No one drove by us in a golf cart without asking us if we needed a ride. The resort does require some walking but it was a great way to walk off the calories. However, when we needed it, a golf cart and driver were always there! All drivers were wonderful - shout out to Tristan who was always so friendly during our rides. Entertainment: Always a fun night listening to a band, DJ or Karaoke at the Main Bar. Excursions: Don't miss the Shirley Heights Caribbean Sunset. It was cloudy and we still enjoyed the BBQ and views. Also be sure to visit the Pineapple Beach Club's beach. Top 10 beach in Antigua. Pool Towels - if you plan accordingly, access to beach towels is not a problem. Make sure you get your towels first thing in the morning and hold on to them for the day. Thank you to the entire staff at the Verandah for making our trip relaxing and memorable. It is a beautiful resort with the friendliest staff. We will be back - 1 week wasn't enough.

30th birthday trip What a great trip to Antigua for my DIL 30th birthday !We used Glen Stran to take us back and forth to ANU $20 each and he also helped us find a fishing trip but we couldn’t go… we had a prime location by the main pool and restaurants and lovers beach .. we tried every restaurant and had no complaints. Service was really slow at Sails &Tales at lunch. I requested water bottles for all 4 rooms and received them. There were never any towels available at the pool. Don’t drink the tap water. They do NOT tell you this and I should have known not to drink it _. We went to PBC on our last day. Beach is beautiful and we loved the pool there right on the beach. Everyone but me liked the Outhouse. We participated in Ping pong / putt putt tournament and water ballon toss and won each time. Not many other guests joined in the games and we did the lucky dice game @ PBC. Won a bottle of champagne for the birthday girl … not every place is open at night due to low season. We ate at Nicole’s on Friday night. Lobster special was delish Son didn’t bring long pants and not a word was said. Also made in Chelsea ( UK reality TV series) was filming at Verandah and we partied with them 2 nights at the pool bar.. weather was perfect - hot but we floated a lot! Shirley Heights was recommended for the sunset but none wanted to go and pay for taxi. Only on Sun/TH..Rohan was awesome activities director too!

A Nice Change of Pace We booked our trip on CheapCaribbean.com and stayed from Wed. 8/28/2024 - Mon. 9/2/2024. We had stopped at Antigua on a cruise years ago, but this was our first time to stay there. Our flight arrived in the late afternoon. We were a group of 3 and booked a shuttle van at the airport. Another couple of ladies were put into our van that were also going to the Verandah. The price was based on per person in a group. I believe ours was $56 for the 3 of us, and the other two ladies charged separately at a slightly cheaper rate. Pretty weird. It took about 40 minutes to get to the hotel, passing through some small neighborhoods along the way. Most roads were just barely 2 lane streets, so lots of stopping to let people pass. The hotel check-in went smooth. A golf cart had to take us to our room. Craig gave us a nice tour of the place. You figure it out after a day or so, so don't worry. Our bungalow was about 5 minutes away from the main area, so we ended up walking mostly, but there's times you just don't want to so we'd call for a ride. Sometimes it took up to 15 minutes, so expect that. We heard the resort was at 20% occupancy at this time of year. Room: The rooms look remodeled. We had a nice waterview and could see Rasta Beach (no one ever seemed to be there.) Pretty spacious room I'd say. Also had iron/board, TV, hairdryer, fridge, kitchen cabinet and sink. Bathrooms were decent size, but could get hot with the door closed. A/Cs were the wall-mounted kind, the control took some figuring out. Rooms are cleaned every other day for some reason. Food: That first night we ate at the buffet. The jerk chicken, oxtail, macaroni and cheese, salad bar, roast beef, and dessert bar were awesome. I had to make myself stop eating jerk chicken, it was so good. The buffet isn't open every night, some nights it was just Italian and I think the snack area also. The Italian restaurant was fine. Breakfast had an omelet station that was good. Bacon, scrambled, eggs, etc. I enjoyed everything I ate. The pizza was very good also. We didn't eat at the specialty restaurant that has an extra charge. Bars: The drinks were fine at the bars we drank at: the beach, the main bar, the sports bar, and the bar serving the buffet and Italian restaurant. The rum punch was very good, but would be different depending on who made it. Didn't matter, it was good. You could get name brand if you wanted. The sports bar had name brand on display. Blender drinks aren't available at the sports bar. That didn't bother me, just pointing it out. Nightlife: Since it wasn't packed, it was nice during the day. At night, it was a little slow, depending on the night. One night, they advertised a disco night. Well, they band was good, but they didn't play a lot of disco, or only part of the song, before moving to another. When they did stick with 70s disco, people seemed to liven up and some danced. A couple of nights at the sports bar it was somewhat active, and other nights kind of dead. Not sure why. I did enjoy the people I talked to. Beach/pool: There are two main beaches, Lovers Beach and Rasta Beach. I don't think anyone was hardly at Rasta. Lovers beach was never packed either because of low occupancy. It was nice and the water was a good temperature. They had these rings out in the water that you could float on. Very nice and relaxing. The water was very calm in a protected inner area. We rode on the small catamaran one day for about 15 minutes and that was cool. Everyone seemed to like the beach and the relaxing. Seemed like I heard there were 4 pools there. The only one we went to was the main pool. Water temperature was comfortable. The only drawback was no swim up bar. Excursions: We wanted to do a sunset cruise, but went back the next day on a Saturday and was told nothing available like that until Wednesday. We did go to Shirley Heights on a Sunday night on the SE part of the island. Probably about 45 minutes each way. The hotel arranged it. $25 dollars if I remember correctly, but you have to leave at a certain time after sundown unless you get your own ride. The drinks there were reasonable, $5 for rum punch, $4 for all kinds of beer, not sure for mixed drinks or shots. They had a cookout too, it was a little high depending on what you wanted to eat. People seemed to get more into it as the time went on. The views are great. Seating is hard to get after the crowd starts showing up. I'd probably do that again, too bad we had to leave the next day. There's also a big cricket stadium there we passed from the airport to the hotel. I know nothing about it, but the teams playing did stay at our resort and one night we watched a game on TV at the sports bar, trying to figure it out. I'd like to learn more about it and maybe go to a game sometime if I get the chance to go back there. Service: Service at the restaurants seemed to be like other resorts. Some are good, some you wonder where they went. Just depends. Nothing to get upset over. Everyone was polite, if not friendly. I don't expect someone to overdo it and throw on the charm for me, just treat me as a guest. Other: There is a sister hotel, the Pineapple, you have to take a cart to. We checked it out one night at the main bar area, but it was dark so hard to tell about the rest of the aera. I hear it will be remodeled also. I did meet the owner of the resort touring the place on a golf cart and talked to him briefly. Good to know he was checking out the place. All in all, the people we talked to, everyone just seemed to be first timers to Antigua, and really liked the place and had good things to say. Just had a good vibe, and I don't use that phrase much. I'd say about 1/3 were British, 1/3 were American/Canadian, and 1/3 were from other places in the Caribbean. All-in-all, we were very relaxed and comfortable at this resort. We talked how we'd like to stay again. We checked prices and during the busy season the prices do go up, so it all will depend on some things when it will be again. But it was a very nice change from the usual Cabo/Cancun/Jamaica and/or cruise trips we usually do. Nice to check out some place different. I'd really like to go back, and hope to sometime. And yes, I would definitely and hopefully stay there again.
