Nice venue if you are ok with no sleep. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a stay at this hotel, although the hotel is beautiful and the staff helpful. When we arrived, our 5th floor room reservation had been changed by the hotel, we didn’t know until unlocking the door, with different beds. I noticed our room overlooked the Aquarium and an indoor courtyard. On our second night, there evidently was a “party” on the first floor. The “music” started around 9:00 and continued for hours. It was constant thumping, pounding percussion, with alternating man/woman voices. Noise machines, earplugs. a call to the front desk couldn’t stop the deafening noise until long after midnight. I asked the desk how often this happens: once a week. No apology whatsoever. I know children stayed on my floor. No sleep even with sleep aids. Holding insanely loud parties must be a very lucrative business, but not the definition of a hotel stay: a place to sleep. Finally, please know we stayed as part of a national teaching tour for young people. Wonderful venue unless you want any sleep.

Great property, bad customer service for in-room dining It’s a beautiful property. Unique and well-done. No issues checking in. Service was terrific. We came with a large, multi-family group for a celebration the entire weekend, including a large brunch planned here on Sunday morning. Many of us came from far away and some of us came from overseas. After a long day of traveling Friday night, we tried to order room service at 10:28p when they close at 11p. We were told they were already closed and we should walk down to the lobby bar because it is open until 1am. “But all of your menus and the front desk told us 11p.” “I know,” she said. “But it will take us an hour to get food made and delivered to you, so room service is closed.” “So room service is only until 10p?” “Yes, we stop taking orders at 10p.” So they actually stop room service at any-time-they-feel-like-it, not 11p like all of their materials say. Not impressed. Especially since our group has spent thousands of dollars here this weekend. Hungry and exhausted, we are disappointed. It left a negative impression.

Polar Express Disappointment We stayed for the Polar Express event at Union Station. We booked the Decorated Suite package which included a Suite and four tickets to the Polar Express. Our suite was in the portion of the hotel that was added after the Union Station mall closed and it was dated, cramped, and difficult to navigate. Individuals with excess baggage or mobility constraints would have found the walk to the room extremely cumbersome. The suite was supposed to be decorated (it was) and to include a gift and our polar express tickets (it didn’t). Additionally, upon arriving at the hotel we were met with a check in line a dozen families long, no bellmen, and a room that wasn’t ready yet. Our room wasn’t ready until 5:25PM. The Grand Hall rooms, which are heavily featured in advertising, are beautiful. They’re historic, spacious, and well appointed. For the Polar Express event, save your money on the suite and stay elsewhere. The rooms are disgusting.

Nice stay at beautiful building I stayed at this hotel in October for a conference. The hotel was nice and very large with many old and unique design features. The lobby was amazing with a light show that happens every night. The rooms are a little far from where you check in and you have to make sure you know where you are going. The rooms are pretty standard and could be updated but comfortable and clean. We stayed on the first floor right next to a sidewalk that takes you to the Union Station so there was constant foot traffic outside the window. The Union station was nice with a few restaurants and activities. The location of the hotel seemed to be close to the soccer and hockey stadium but other than that there is nothing else around. You will need to take a shuttle or taxi to go to the arch. Overall a cool building that could use some updates but a regular average stay with no issues.

must stay for historic hotels This is an outstanding historic hotel with many many features. Its like a small city. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The light shows were awesome in the grand lobby. Its a little expensive and no breakfast provided but this is a very inclusive stay otherwise. The train station hotel preserves much of the historic design which is marvelous. Its a must stay for historic hotels.
