Don't let the pictures fool you, the human experience is subpar! The hotel grounds are beautiful HOWEVER, they need to revamp its dark and Drap look on the inside. There were 30 couples that came to celebrate our husbands turning 60! It was supposed to be amazing celebration of life and friendships. We made the best of our stay BUT this was the most restricted all-inclusive resort I have ever stayed at. Most of the staff was NOT friendly, the bar staff especially. There was never a smile, a warm greeting, nothing inviting as far as bartenders go! We had an incident at the pool where someone from my group asked for a can of soda and she was given an open can the bartender was currently using to make a mixed cocktail with! I was floored! The group went to dine at the Italian restaurant, and we asked if a table (large enough for FOUR PEOPLE) could have two chairs added so we could all dine together versus dining at the two side by side tables that were set for only two people) You would have thought we were robbing the establishment! One of the young ladies that came over was so nasty and stated if we wanted to sit together, she could move the table to a spot right by the makeshift bar!! I mean this was the most ridiculous behavior and interaction. NOW let's address the SUNSET roof top lounge. We only liked TWO things about this lounge... the view at night is beautiful AND the bartender EDDIE was AMAZING! HE knows how to make vacationing guest feel welcomed! He made good drinks; he had a constant smile, and he talked to every guest that graced his bar! BUT walk around the space at your own risk, there were so many areas with LOOSE TILES (I am talking they would pop up and a huge hole would be visible!!) There was one section where FOUR tiles were just not connected to anything so we had to put something over them to assure no one from our group would end up in the ER! When it rained briefly during our birthday celebration, we asked a staff member if it would be possible to have someone help with the water on the slippery tiles. We were told no that would not be possible. Two of the couples has to be moved to a different swim up room because there was glass in their pool and someone from my group got cut. There were AC issues in some of the rooms and television issues as well. I can deal with a few things not being subpar, but I can NOT excuse bad attitudes, energy and lack of concern for guest! The music is NON-EXSISTENT on the adult side, so that was boring! There needs to be more going on poolside! THE GOOD - If you decide to take a chance on this (NOT SO inexpensive) resort. I hope you have the pleasure of enjoying a cocktail made by EDDIE in the Sunset in the Rooftop lounge. I hope you have the pleasure of dining at Azuil for dinner and have JENELL be your amazing server. She is phenomenal! Her memory is impeccable, and her energy is unmatched! I highly recommend dining at Azuil for breakfast. It's a beautiful view in the morning and the experience starts with NICOLE. Her smile is so beautiful and friendly. She is courteous and friendly.   Overall, I would NOT recommend this resort. This was my first time visiting Sinnt Marteen and my last!

Unacceptable Experience with Foul Odor I’m writing to share my disappointing experience at Sonesta Maho. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by a serious issue with our room that the hotel failed to resolve adequately. When we first entered our room, we were greeted by a strong, unpleasant odor that smelled distinctly like feces. I immediately reported this to the front desk. Although they promptly sent someone to check the situation, the odor persisted and was not addressed effectively. We requested a room change, but were informed that no other rooms were available. This was particularly troubling as my 4-year-old niece, who was traveling with us, had trouble sleeping due to the smell. It even affected her breathing, making the situation quite distressing. On the morning of our second day, I again brought the issue to the front desk, explaining that the odor was becoming a health hazard. The response was similar to before: maintenance was sent, and while there was a slight improvement, the smell remained strong and sleeping conditions were still uncomfortable. Despite returning to the front desk on the morning of our third day, the problem persisted until maintenance finally made a noticeable improvement. However, by then, we had endured two nights of sleeplessness during our four-day vacation, which was particularly challenging with young children. To add to our frustration, we received no compensation for our discomfort or the inconvenience we experienced. This lack of consideration and the failure to provide a satisfactory solution is unacceptable, especially for families traveling with young children (4&6 years old). On a positive note, apart from the issues with the room, the rest of our trip was lovely. The location and amenities were wonderful, and we enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the hotel. However, the problems we encountered with the room significantly impacted our stay. I hope this feedback prompts the hotel to improve its response to similar issues in the future. No guest should have to endure such conditions, and adequate compensation should be considered for any inconvenience caused.

Terrible customer service. Our first impression of this hotel was that it was busy and loud. The only real positive is that rooms were modern and comfortable and kept clean. We tried all the restaurants and the food was better than I was expecting, although rarely very hot. We stuck to the cans of beer after tasting the wine on the first night but had a couple of cocktails, the quality of which really depended on who made them. The buffet breakfast was not a pleasant experience as items were rarely replenished and it was always very busy. We found the best option was to join the long queue for an omelette as at least we know it was fresh and would be hot. Anything we wanted with it really was luck of the draw as most things had generally run out. The main reason this is a 2 star review is the terrible customer service. I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff are so rude. There were a couple of exceptions but the vast majority were totally disinterested in providing even basic customer service and certainly not with a smile. Most requests were met with a simple “No” and no attempt at all to try and find an alternative or help out in any way. We were shocked at how poorly the staff are managed and how much they really seem to find the customers a total inconvenience. On some occasions the bar staff were just plain rude. We had to laugh about it in the end otherwise it would have ruined the holiday. Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely not.

Poorly maintained room Sonesta Maho St Marteen I am a guest presently at the resort. When we checked on the toilet seat was broken in the bathroom. The next day we had a leak in the bathroom water leaking out of the bathroom into the room. I think this is unacceptable,. It happened the first day and I thought it was from the shower and was using towels cleaning up water. I went to the front desk to ask for another room and was told they don't have any more rooms. They did find a leak. I feel like we paid for a substandard room. If I come back to St Marteen I would never stay here again. I felt that the front desk staff wasn't sympathetic to our inconvenience. I am a retired , senior citizen, widow on a fixed income and don't have money to go on a vacation to stay in a poorly maintained room.
