Lovely Short Getaway at the Vinoy After being stuck at home for the last year, we decided to splurge on a quick overnight getaway in St. Petersburg. We love this old hotel, and have visited several times - but never stayed overnight. So we took the plunge on a busy weekend and booked a bay view room at the Vinoy. I didn't bother to look at the reviews here until shortly before we left; and was really concerned about all the recent negative reviews. So I was worried when we arrived. The valet took our car promptly, and at the front desk, Adrian greeted us with a smile and a friendly welcome. Our room wasn't ready for the 4:00 check-in, but she offered to buy us a drink at the lovely verandah bar while we waited - making it a good start to our short vacation. The room was ready before we finished our drinks. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Giant old oaks blocked most of the bay view, but it was a nice quiet view - we've seen the bay many times! We were pleased with the room and all the amenities...only problem was a missing hair dryer, but one came quickly after a call to the desk. The room was a little dated, but it's an old historic hotel. It was too hot to play golf this weekend, but the golf course is a lovely layout - I've enjoyed playing it many times. All in all, it was a really enjoyable weekend - made special by the great service and friendly staff. All the staff we met greeted us with smiles and made us feel welcome. It's a little expensive, but I'm sure we'll be back!

A supreme disappointment! We had looked forward to our get-away (7/15-18/2021) and staying at the Vinoy for a huge celebration for a very long time but found it a tremendous letdown. We reserved a room with a bay view only to find we had a view of a beautiful and huge oak tree. Not a speck of the bay could we see but we were kindly moved to a room with a wonderful view of the bay. We had fresh towels delivered to our room only 2 days. The 3rd day we had to find a housekeeper and ask for them. We had to ask for ice bucket, plastic glasses—-no make up remover wipes—-very sparse necessities. The furniture was banged up and room generally very dated and 2nd class. After leaving Vinoy we stayed at a run-of-the-mill chain that was much cleaner, more up-to-date, and provided us with more than the daily necessities which the Vinoy did not. And for the rates we paid…! We love St Pete but will never stay at the Vinoy again. To say it was a huge anticlimax would be an understatement. And the lovely restaurant that used to be with a spectacular bar in the center—-GONE!!! We had to leave the property for our meals.

Responsive management t I initially left a bad review because the room was filthy ( see pics attached). The hotel acknowledged and remedied the situation. My husband arrived the next day and his room was great. Setting is beautiful. I was very put off by the filthy room but at least they were accommodating and responsive.

Disappointed Very disappointed in our suite. We discovered what appeared to be blood spots on our bedsheets as we were retiring for the night. We did not call the front desk because of the hour and our extreme tiredness. Other things were fine, but the experience left us uneasy.

Filthy hotel This hotel is not clean. When we got to our room, the floor had not been vacuumed. There was food, a dead spider and ants on the ground. We asked to be moved to a new room. When we got there, we discussed that that one was worse. Again ants on the ground and small bugs crawling all over the desk. The desk itself had not been cleaned - it was absolutely filthy. Both times a housekeeping manager came into the room. In the second room, we should him the bugs and all he said was “ew”. The housekeeping department needs to be retrained and the rooms need a DEEP CLEANING. I took a video but it isn’t allowing me to upload it.
