Pleasant night away On the whole, good. Only downside was in the standard of food in the restaurant. My husband scored well with duck pate, belly pork and toffee pudding. Me, not so much. Crispy squid wasn't crispy, roast beef dinner reminiscent of school dinners, managing to be both overcooked, meat and yorkshire, undercooked, veg. However, room and staff were great

Open air Hotel in Beamish If you are visiting the open air museum at beamish , you have to stay here , as this is where it all started. Beamish hall is mentioned many times at the museum by lots of the staff , as this is where the squire lived who owned the mine near by , the open air museum also started here in 1 of the many rooms by museum founder Dr Atkinson very relaxing , food and drinks excellent , with grand accommodation , and gardens to die for .

What a great experience. From the moment we arrived till the moment we departed, we were made to feel relaxed and welcome by the excellent staff at the hotel. The landscaped grounds are amazing and at the time of our visit the 82 hanging baskets plus all the raised beds outside were a spectacular sight with all the different colours and plants cascading down over the sides. You can see how well tended they are by the groundsmen. It is a majestic house and the décor reflects this with the framed paintings and decorations throughout. The restaurant is comfortable and the staff very attentive. The food is first class and we enjoyed every meal. The bedroom was bright and clean, it was a very hot room and we did have to use the fan supplied, but even though the windows were open it was still a quiet room. It has all the usual tea and coffee tray and a separate bath and shower which suited us as baths are not always that easy to access at our age. There is a small 2 person lift to get to the upper floors if needed. They had a Wedding fair on when we arrived and what a super backdrop the house would make to any wedding or social event. There is lots of car parking, and they are currently improving the parking with blue badge bays etc. A great location if you are spending a couple of days touring or visiting Beamish Museum as we were doing, it is literally just around the corner.
