Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook

Great place Perfect for the location to the college. Never had a negative experience. Very easy if your a hybrid student for the university and need a place to stay for the few times a year you need to be on campus.

In general a good hotel. Compliments on restaurant employee Liz! Reception personnel needs to be more customer friendly We (party of 5) stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook to meet our daughter who studied at SBU. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is very good, but you need to know that they charge you an extra 20% fee if you are a party of 6 or more, but apparently this is not commonly known by the services staff as we were charged for this fee. Afterwards one of the service staff members (Liz) made us aware of this and she had the earlier charged fees reversed. In top of that Liz notified us that a discount applies when you have a family member studying at SBU. We hereby take the opportunity to thank Liz for honesty and customer friendly approach and her extremely good service! Well done Liz and we really appreciated your excellent work and service. We do have criticism on the personnel that works at reception. We arrived on Dec 24 and the receptionist informed us that our rooms would not be serviced on Christmas Day and we could fully understand, however, the day after Christmas the rooms were still not cleaned. We noticed this upon our return to the hotel at the end of the day. We called upon the receptionist who was not able to help us and then we asked for her manager who was only willing to provide fresh towels as the cleaning crew had already left. We asked for some compensation like for example a discount on our dinner, but the answer was NO! In summary the 3 nights we stayed the rooms were only serviced on the day we arrived. Poor service from the reception.

Nice, but expensive Our standard room at this hotel was clean, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Guests should be aware that rooms are cleaned only every other day. The gym/fitness center is very small, but it is clean and has enough options for exercise. We didn't use the pool, but it seems on the small side as well. The front desk staff was always polite and to the point. We did not try the $16 breakfast - to us, the small cafes in Stony Brook or Port Jefferson seemed more interesting. Overall, it was a pleasant stay at a well-maintained hotel. However, it really seems somewhat overpriced ($330 per night) for the standard offered and the location.

Quite Nice Stay Yes, the hotel is expensive for a limited service hotel, but we were overly impressed in spite of this. The hotel is new, fresh, well designed, spotless and quite lovely. The staff was outstanding and quite helpful. In spite of the prices, highly recommend actully!

Very overpriced at almost $400 for one night. Hotel's nightly price was exorbitant, exploitative and shameful. Our room, breakfast and fitness center were all fine but $250/night would have been reasonable and fair. I would not recommend HGI to anyone at this price.
