Excellent hotel and staff, amazing restaurant too. Excellent suite with amazing views of the surrounding area, very clean rooms. The staff have all been exceptional in their help and are very pleasant to deal with. Many thanks to Manjeet who checked me in and for her recommendations for menu choices at the excellent Raga Indian restaurant in the hotel.

The Sandman was definitely asleep on the job! We like to stay at suite hotels so I booked Sandman Suites Surrey Guildford despite never having heard of Sandman Suites. BIG MISTAKE. This was undoubtedly the worst hotel experience I have ever had!!I booked what was advertised as a penthouse suite (1308) because it was my wife's birthday. When we checked in at approximately 9 pm Joel, the person at the front desk mentioned the he would need to monitor our entry to the parking garage via the cctv to grant us access as the entry gate was "not working." That should have been our first clue. When we entered the "penthouse suite" we were stunned by the shabbiness of the furniture, the barrenness of the rooms, the outdated appointments, and the spartan amenities. The lighting was meager and poorly arranged and the one floor lamp did not work. The bathroom had one vanity and very little counter space; with the exception of the bedroom windows, all other windows were covered by cheap shades; there was a small square table in the living that had but one chair; there appeared to be a gas fireplace but not switch with which to turn it on; the carpeting was drab and in need of replacement. I could go on but at 11:30 pm I went down to the from desk and informed "Arnold" that our room was totally unacceptable and that we would be checking out in the morning and would not be paying for the two additional nights we had booked. Arnold apologized and agreed we would be charged for only one night.

Only one complaint Overall, the suite we stayed in was clean, nicely laid out and well-equipped - everything we needed was there, including a toaster, a kettle and a tea pot in the kitchen. As delegates to a nearby convention receiving a group rate, we were greeted at check-in with a gift bag including a water, granola bar, some gum and chips. Very thoughtful! Check-in was smooth and efficient, the staff were friendly, and the car park is behind a locked gate for security. I have only one beef: the overpowering smell of air freshener, or some heavily-floral-scented cleaning product, was almost nauseating. In three days of leaving the sliding door to the balcony and all the windows open, it never dissipated. It would be a deal-breaker for someone with a scent sensitivity.

Great hotel but pricy for what it is I’ve stayed here a few times over the past couple years. Always appreciated the professional staff, spacious and well equipped rooms and ample free parking. The property, although very clean, is super dated and lacking some key amenities such as a restaurant. Prices have recently skyrocketed which is disappointing however if people are willing to pay $300 for that room, that’s on them. Would love to stay here again if in the event prices adjust to something a little closer to reasonable.

An OK place for a longer stay. The first room we were given seemed to have not been properly cleaned. Bed sheets were dirty, and the kitchen counter had a sticky spill on it. We were moved to another room and it was clean. The suites are well suited for a longer term stay with full kitchen amenities, and a sitting room area with a separate bedroom. Towels are not very big, and low water pressure in the shower. Easy access to and from Hwy 1.
