Two Questions to Ask before Booking Before you book at Oakwood in Syracuse, especially in the colder months, ask these two questions: Is the heat on yet? Are you REALLY serving breakfast on the dates I will be there? My 85+ year old mother is from Syracuse. About every 6 weeks, we travel 2 hours to visit friends and family there. In the off season, we like to stay at Oakwood so Mother can see Lake Wawasee. We had a great time at Oakwood in September. On October 15, we checked in about 4:30 in the afternoon. Our room was 65 degrees. Indiana was having cold winds from Canada. Frost warnings were out. I turned up the heat. We went out to dinner. When we returned, the room was 68 degrees. My mother got under the covers in her street clothes. I went to the front desk. The clerk was very nice and very apologetic. The entire building uses one heating system. The computer didn't think it was "time" or the right date to turn on the heat. No one knew how to override the system. She offered more blankets and/or a space heater. I took the blankets, but declined the space heater because I was concerned my mother who has Macular Degeneration and other issues might put her hands on it trying to figure out what it was during the night. We were lakeside. The cold wind was coming across the water and turning our window into a refrigerator. The next morning, we went down the hall to have breakfast, but the dining room was closed. The clerk at the front desk said that there was a "new" policy of only serving breakfast on the weekends, but we could have a granola bar or an apple. This is not the first time that we have not had a hot breakfast. We have been told that breakfast is only served on the weekdays. It is important that you ask before you make your reservation if they are serving HOT breakfast and not a granola bar. We cut short our stay. As I turned in our keys to a clerk wrapped in a blanket, she said something like "I hope you enjoyed your stay." I tersely replied that our room was 68 degrees. She looked shocked and said, "I didn't know." No one offered a reduced rate or a coupon for the next visit.

Amazing Anniversary and Birthday at The Oakwood Resort. My Husband and I just celebrated our 12 th Wedding Anniversary on 10/12 & my Husband’s Birthday on 10/14 at the Oakwood Resort. We were greeted at the front desk. Shanita unloaded our vehicle and brought our luggage to our room. She went above and beyond. We were then surprised by an amazing carrot cake taken care of by Alissa the Amazing General Manager. We then had an excellent Anniversary dinner that was cooked to perfection by Dane. Then Simone surprised us with a dessert to celebrate our Anniversary. Simone’s restaurant staff are awesome. We met several new guests while out in the lobby. Lauren took excellent care of us at Brew City. We enjoyed our breakfast and drinks in the lobby on the new Polywood furniture which is very comfortable and looks really nice. Went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and met some more new guests. We had another very memorable stay at our home away from home.

Don't plan on getting any sleep, there are no quiet hours! My wife and I were there for 3 nights. We had a lake view room on the second floor. The first night was quiet and we had a good nights sleep. The following 2 nights were very loud because there were 15 people 20 feet outside our room window partying around the fire ring. The first night they partied until 12 midnight. The second night they partied until 1:00 AM with music blaring. We called the front desk and were told there were no quiet hours. They said they would talk to them but nothing changed. The next morning the front desk had an attitude and said there was nothing they could do. We would never return and advise you not too if you plan to sleep!
