Good location but poorly managed POORLY managed. When we checked in we were "upgraded" because of my gold status to a room facing a wall. Even though the hotel was far from full, front desk manager wouldn't budge on price to upgrade to suite. I asked about getting wall st journal in the morning and was told only USA today; two days later, WSJ on display in the morning. Was told could use spa across the street at WJ Marriott; when I went there was told there was a fee to get in. A/C wasn't cooling adequately (room temp 73 though thermostat read 60). Two different mechanics couldn't fix it. I parked my car with valet at 9:00 pm on Tues and checked my car out at 6:30 pm on Thursday and was charged for 3 days parking; only after I complained was one day removed. The only people on staff that impressed me were Bruce, the attendant at the pool and Luz, a server at the waterside grill.

Nice Trip Nice location, front desk staff friendly, main part of hotel lobby smells amazing. Plenty of resrurants around. Pool I kind of small but served it purpose. Rooms pretty spacious but need better cleaning. Day valet great night valet a bit lazy. Text ahead to get your car is convenient. There is a Starbucks on premise which is nice.

Disappointed Have always enjoyed the Tampa Waterside, but this time not so much. Rooms seem neglected, service has dropped and valet has ALWAYS been awful. We were upgraded to a King Terrace and it was awful - bed was clumpy, terrace door handle not screwed on, door dirty, just really worn. So bad that we called immediately to switch and downgrade to a normal queen water view. Even the second one seemed worn - wall paper in bathroom worn, everything seemed just old and not maintained. This was our go to hotel and prior to this we tried the JW and were like, nah, we’ll stick with the Waterside. But no more. Won’t be back. I guess Marriott is shifting all their attention to JW. By the way, anyone planning to get out of Waterside valet in a hurry, plan to give yourself an hour. It’s a cluster!!! Marriott Platinum member and local resident, but won’t be back. Guess the Epicurean or JW will be our new go to spot.

College Reunion We visited Tampa for a few days to reunite with our friends from college. The hotel was sparkling clean and offered a great mix of amenities between the Marriott and the JW across the street. Both hotels were gorgeous. Luz at the front desk was super accommodating and helpful with local spots and directions.

Check Your Bill Very average hotel. As a Marriott Platinum we didn't get upgraded. The hotel didn't even have our new dates after we changed them online. Lounge isn't open, no real benefit other than a $10 breakfast credit. Room wasn't that clean. Dust and dirt in the corners. After checking out I found a $300 charge on my card. After a few phone calls turns out they charged me for a second room I cancelled on time. Good thing I had my cancellation confirmation. No option to self park which I hate. We went for a hockey game. The arena is very close so that is a plus. Next time I'll stay across the street at the JW Marriott.
