Sad hotel Castle Hotel and Spa is a former shell of itself and just sad. I saw on their website before I booked that the restaurant and spa were closed. I called to confirm if the pool and gym were open and they confirmed they were. On the same phone call I asked why someone could still book a reservation at the spa on their website if it was closed. They told me I was wrong and that reservations aren’t available to book online. I suggested they check their website site. And obviously no one did. While I was in the gym someone came in and asked me if the spa was open because they had booked an appointment online. I sent her to the front desk. This lack of attention to details were rampant throughout our stay. Pro: the pool was amazing and the lifeguard was nice. Unfortunately it’s only open from 10am - 6pm. The bartender was also great but we were told the bar was only open for 2 hours on Thursday and Friday. How weird is that?? The grounds were beautiful. Cons: room was large but dated. The curtains were ragged and the sheer inside panel was longer than the outside curtain. And while this seems minor, it’s the shabbiness that shone through. The bathtub was chipped all over and needed to be reglazed. The towels both in the bathroom and at the pool were threadbare. The pillows were old and lumpy … just like the mattress. There was a shelf missing in the bathroom. The shampoo and body wash containers were empty and never refilled. I feel sorry for the staff. Every time I passed by the front desk there was a guest complaining about something wrong with their room. The management has really put them in a tough spot. The sad part about this hotel is that you can sense its former glory as part of the Leading Hotels group. It’s a shame that the current management has let it fall into such disrepair. It could really be something special. Definitely not worth the price they’re charging. Unless you’re desperate for a nice pool.

Hotel in Name Only This is NOT a functional hotel - the grounds are lovely and the castle is impressive but there are barely any services or amenities. Their once-grand restaurant is closed, serving only a weak “continental” breakfast - I’ve seen better spreads at a Day’s Inn! The Spa is closed and there is no bellman so you have to hump your bags around yourself - although when we checked in, the front desk guy offered to help. Their outdoor pool IS open so that’s a plus. Housekeeping was spotty - we had to remind them to make up our room several times & and our body wash dispenser was empty the entire time. The bar is open ONLY Thurs & Friday - until 8:30 and you can’t charge drinks to your room. (???) Some staff were nice, one was surly - I tried to help a waiting door dash guy out by asking the front desk man to ring a certain room. “No, I don’t get involved in that stuff,” he said. Okay… Hate to be negative but I was expecting a better experience. Can’t imagine how long they can go on like this.

A castle but not a resort or spa! Lacks the basicc! Besides the grounds being beautiful, this hotel lacks the minimim requirements to function as a hotel. No spa, no restaurant, bar opens two days a week until 8:30. Continental breakfast is a costco stale selection of croissants, bagels and danishes. No valet, no bellman. Be prepared to park and walk a steep hill or stairs to get to hotel. Housekeeping is non existent. Consists of dropping off towels and making the bed and our room was forgotten twice. At 10:30pm one night i got a call from desk asking if car parked in front of hotel — no i am sorry to disturb you. The staff needs some training on being curteous…basic eye contact and greeting would be nice. I honestly think property is cool but would never stay there again.

Special romance hideaway This is the most beautiful property. I loved the staff and grounds. The pool is fantastic. Unfortunately the spa and restaurant are closed temporary, but the town is close by and pizza place delivers to the pool. The shower was strong and refreshing and the bed extremely comfortable. Being it was 91 degrees the air conditioning in the entire castle remained comfortable. I hope to return again. hope the management company opens the spa soon. Best place for romantic weekend. Views outstanding.

Not sure if it's intentionally a scam, worlds most expensive Motel (not a typo), or worlds most useless luxury hotel I rarely write reviews but the rare case I do is because I had either a great or terrible experience. Anyways after seeing I'm not the only one calling this place a scam, I'm pretty sure a terrible experience is likely the norm. Seriously look at some of the other recent reviews...it's clearly not just me. I gave them a chance to make things right or at least partially right, but I was told they'd call back or I should try calling them. It took over a month to get ahold of Maria who we were told is the only person who could help us, and even when we finally managed to get in contact with her via calling via another phone number, they left us on hold for a while. I was almost left wondering if they are maliciously doing this in the way a scam does on purpose. Maybe the service is just normally terrible nowadays on what used to be a nice hotel years ago. Let's start with the basics, of why id suggest avoiding this place. They dont have any of the amenities they claim, no gym,no spa, no restaurant. But then the experience gets worst when should you need to reach them, and they leave you hanging after taking (or should I say stealing since they claim theyll resolve it and avoid your calls for so long) your money. Don't sour what you'd want to be a nice memorable time with this place. There are many hotels in the are which are actually still very nice
