Walking distance to a lot Good location, close to a lot. Parking is $45 a night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Ice is on the even numbered floors, and I would suggest requesting to face the front of the hotel. There is no actual closet, but an armoire to hang clothes. Decent size room, well spaced out. I love the height of the king bed, and the 4 pillows are very comfortable. Not too firm and not too soft. There is a mini fridge, but no microwave. The wall unit HVAC is controlled by the T-Stat on the wall. One thing I didn't like were the slots to open the drawers and armoire doors. You need tiny fingers to fit in there, this was not enjoyable. Walking distance to quite a bit, I did not need a car. Ultimately, I will stay here when I return.

Acceptable Stay The DoubleTree by Hilton is an acceptable stay. There is nothing extravagant about this hotel. DoubleTree needs to start renovating the rooms. They are old and things just look outdated. The lobby needs a refresher. The hotel is clean. That is a plus. Personally, I wouldn't return to this property unless it was renovated. I stayed at the Canopy by Hilton for my second night in Toronto. The Canopy was far superior to the DoubleTree. Overall, the rooms are overpriced . I hope in the future that management starts to inspect and begin to remodel this hotel .

Credit card fraud A few days after staying here I have had several attempts at fraudulent payments from my Amex card. While travelling in Canada for two weeks, check in at this hotel was the only time I used this card. The person had also used my email, the same one used as contact details with the hotel. The fraudulent payment attempts were payments in Canada. I live in the UK. This suggests somebody from the hotel has attempted to use my details. Do not stay here if you value financial security.

Great stay This hotel is well maintained, super clean and in a great location. I suspect the staff is treated well since every employee I spoke with seemed happy to be there and willing to help with anything I asked for. Everything we needed was available when we needed it. I can't think of anything that was disappointing. Next time I am downtown Toronto I'll be booking at this location.

Utter Disappointment but Functional. Where do I start? The desk staff grilling my fiance and I, giving us dirty looks and rejecting our Id (it was a legal, temporary paper id because we had recently gotten our driver's license renewed and it was in the mail). This was bizarre to us, as it was a legal license that he even took, looked over, and VERIFIED that we had the legal license. Then acted like it wasnt legal because it didnt have a photo and asked us to search for a photo of our photo id to prove it was us, despite having everything in hand, including listing our proper name, the receipt, account number etc etc. We eventually got a different staff member who had 0 issues and finally got checked in and went to our room. It was an expensive room. Which made me utterly confused when we got in. The shower was broken, with one of the handles for turning on the water on the floor. The bath plug did not work. One of the sink s had a broken and non turning handle, meaning it could produce blisteringly cold water. The tvs were out of date and had this horrible interpolation that made every image blurry and the signal constantly cut out with no way to replace the feed with our local streaming media like other hotels have by default. The bedroom was servicable. The lights were way too high off the ground to reach from the bed, meaning turning them on and off requires you to stand up and get out of bed. The aging infrastructure is an already visible problem that will only continue to deteriorate if serious maintenance is not considered. There were missing paintings as well with bare screws on the wall. The plugs were loose, and finding a spot to plug in our tablet chargers was a trial. The couch was ok. Everything was just... Ok. It was average. Not what I expect from a top floor king suite from the Hilton, especially with how opulent the front desk and lobby are. It's a shocking contrast that begs more questions than it answers. The only upside is how close double tree is to the downtown core and eaton center. The price is not worth it. They supposedly had a bunch of amenities available, but we felt unwelcome almost the entire time. I legitimately do not understand how a hotel of this price point and supposed calibur could be this bad when Hotels at lower star brackets and price points beat this out of the water with ease. They said that they would give us two room keys, they gave us one, meaning we either had to leave together or essentially not at all. The cookie was free. The complimentary bottled water had warnings, saying that it cost 2 dollars extra if we were not a silver or above member. The longer I process this, the worse it gets. The view was nice, at least.
