Great family place to stay & explore Capitol Reef National Park. Just a few minutes drive to Capitol Reef NP this is a great place to stay and explore the Park. Front Desk staff were welcoming & friendly. We had breakfast in the on site restaurant & food was quite good. My wife & I stayed in one of the cabins. Very comfortable & clean! Quality fixtures and a great shower. The king bed was very comfortable. A nice deck provided a beautiful view. Lots of options for room types! You can stay in conventional hotel room, a cabin, Teepee, they even have Conestoga Wagons! The property is very expansive with lots of lawns. Fire pits and chairs are scattered throughout the grounds. There is a nice clean swimming pool. We met the Asst. GM Kenna & her husband Zack who is head of maintenance who were a delight to talk to. Lots of helpful info about the area. We will definitely be back!

Don't be fooled- not as nice as it seems online Disappointed in this place for several reasons. The room was older and smelled musty, with stained chairs in the room and old, gross worn down arms on the armchair making you not want to sit there. The lamp by the bed kept shorting out too, so you had to shake it every few minutes for it to work properly. Nice views of the red rocks out back and the size of the room was good, but it really needed a thorough cleaning, update and TLC. The pool was disappointedly small and old, and full of kids. The website makes this place look a lot nicer than it is. We were also disappointed that we couldn't get our money back for our last night there because we requested it one hour too late apparently, a few days prior. When asked if we could appeal to a manager, the young girl at the counter couldn't provide us with a name and just kept saying "unfortunately not". The next day another desk clerk gave us 2 cards for the front desk managers but the emails didn't work and weren't accurate, then we got the correct emails the day after and as of 2 days later still had no answer from either of the managers. This is extremely poor customer service and frankly unacceptable for a business, no matter where or in how small of a town you're located. Bottom line, I wouldn't stay here again and there are better places in town, esp. for the relatively high price.

Disappointing: the website photos are misleading This was a complete disappointment. The website is misleading. The photos make it look absolutely gorgeous and set the wrong expectations. The grounds are like one big parking lot with random buildings, a pool, some teepees, etc. The standard rooms are like rundown motel rooms, though the view is great. The room is clean but needs a major renovation. The bathroom faucet is barely attached to the sink. The beds are hard. The kitchenette has seen many better days. One of the cabinets is even missing a handle. I do appreciate the laundry room, where we were able to catch up on laundry from our extended roadtrip. Thankfully we’re only staying one night. It definitely feels like a sad stopover rather than a destination.

Good hotel in Torrey UT The hotel had a variety of room choices. The rooms were very nice inside and the amenities were very nice. The view from our room was great. Not all rooms have views so if that is important to you make sure you ask. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was average for breakfast.

"Resort" should not be in the name of the property. "Glamping Grounds" would accurately describe it. The Capitol Reef Resort is "ok" for a small town motel. They could do so much more with the property. The wagons and teepees were a novelty and nicer than the "resort" rooms. I was disappointed at the appearance of the motel section and also surprised that my room wasn't ready at 3pm. Granted, check in was at 4pm, but a stroll around the place showed 80% of the rooms were vacant, curtains open and beds made. The rooms are dingy and very dated. The carpet was....well... old motel carpet. The A/C in the rooms clicked on and off during the night causing disruption in sleep. The town is tiny, so choices are very limited. The fact that they have covered wagons and teepees is surely the only reason the pricing is sky-high. Very little competition in this remote location. There is also no lighted walkway from one end by the motel rooms to the fire pit and wagon areas. Extremely hard to navigate at night, borderline not safe. I stayed in one of the rooms and other people in our group stayed in a wagon. Long walk to the fire pits to visit, and again no paved clearly marked or lit path. The pool leaves much to be desired, and has zero shade by 5pm making it unusable in the summer afternoons. The hot tub is comfortable for about 3-4 people tops and there's nowhere to sit nearby. They need chairs and perhaps even some plants outside the rooms. The Rose Bud Motel in Schitt's Creek is nicer. It's just a long row of rooms with zero ambiance. Be in your room or at the pool. Even though they have very little competition, they should still make changes to make it a more upscale property. Again/ do not go expecting a resort. Just a run down motel that offers glamping with very touched up photos. Website does not reflect what it really looks like.
