Sad disappointments When we book a hotel we base it on service and amenities. Sadly, the Ritz Carlton did not live up to their usual levels. We used in room dining, cabana by the pool, the lake club and spa for this trip as well. First, kudos to the working staff, they were friendly and smiling. We especially loved the Lake club staff. They were always at the ready to help and make our day by the water as best as they could. The food was usually good to very good. The bed was comfortable. There were things in the room that showed wear but it wasn’t so bad. The games available to play in the common areas were a great way to enjoy the sunny days. Now the reasons for our dissatisfaction. The in room dining contact was frustrating. We would call and wait on the phone for5-10 minutes before someone picked up. Then the wait for the food was very long. We thought, ok it’s COVID era so short staffing is expected. We booked the cabana before we arrived for two days. The space was well used (discarded beer can, etc). The service was obviously stretched, again we understood but we knew immediately we wouldn’t want the second day and asked for it to be cancelled. When I checked later that day to make sure it was cancelled they had not cancelled it. I received the email confirming the cancellation in the middle of the next day. I had to ask for bottles of water, and the fruit rather than it being there without asking because it was part of the cost. The pool and spa were not cleaned. Then the next day we had time available so I called down to the spa to see if the was any available spots that day instead of Friday. I called twice to no answer then finally left a message with contact number. Toward the end of the day we heard nothing so we figured there was no appointment so we went down to the spa to confirm we still had Friday. We were confirmed but then we’re told my masseuse was not going to be available but I could have a facial? I wanted the massage I booked over a month ago, not a facial. This is the main reason I chose to write this review. It was the culmination of all the disappointments with this final service fail that caused this review. They knew Wednesday morning that the masseuse was out for at least a month yet here we were at the end of the day finding out on our own that my appointment was cancelled. Now an excellent service response should have required management sitting on the phone and/or emailing all guests affected and offering some kind of accommodation on something I wanted ( like my husband’s massage) doing it proactively. If the spa staff was short handed, the management staff should have been doing this instead of just walking around the hotel. Let your guests know what is happening before they are disappointed and make up for it. I thought the Ritz-Carlton knew this.

Very nice, but quite expensive My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and it was a lovely experience! Very kind staff (especial shoutout to Eric at the concierge who helped us with activities), nice spacious and clean rooms, and pleasant grounds. Considering the price, I wished there was more to do on-property in the summer - there is no direct lake access (other than Lake Club which is an additional $500/pp/day) and no tennis / other sports. The pool is kind of small. The restaurants are good but the pricing is nuts ($11 for a latte). Note there is also a resort fee and parking is $55/day - and you really need a car. So all-in-all, very nice spot if you have a car, but beware of how quickly the expenses add up!

Amazing Service Madeline at the front desk deserves a raise or a promotion! My boyfriend and I did not have a car while staying at the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe. On our first day, we could not get any car service, taxi, Lyft or Uber. We were completely stranded and were going to miss our biking reservations. Madeline was helping us with our dilemma and made the executive decision to drive us down to our biking reservation in the hotel car. This type of service swept my boyfriend and I completely off of our feet. If it wasn’t for Madeline we would’ve missed one of the best experiences of our trip. Throughout our stay Madeline continued to resolve any other issues we came across. Her kindness, customer service and ability to go above and beyond will be remembered! Will definitely be back but this time we will rent a car!

Outstanding experience Lifetime Titanium member First time for us to visit Tahoe during the summer. Was a superb experience. We got lucky with the super warm weather. The property is beautiful and well kept. Estimate occupancy at 30%. Restaurant was great. Dinner 2 nights and 2 breakfasts. Pool is heated nicely. The s’mores is a nice touch for kids. Hiking is great.

Little slice of paradise From the Prosecco provided upon arrival to the cleanliness of the room, everything was just perfect. This location lives up to the Ritz Carlton reputation. The room view was great, the Nespresso in the room was very enjoyable. My only complaint would have to be the limited menu and ridiculous prices at Manzinita. The other eating options were good and realistic for the Ritz.
