a Tucson Icon We've stayed here countless times over many years, all seasons, Christmas family reunion, just R & R. The Arizona Inn is in a class by itself - truly a Tucson icon. It is always gracious and welcoming, like visiting family or good friends. The rooms are filled with comfortably used antiques I would be quite happy to have in my own home. The food is very good and the grounds always lovely. It's a peaceful enclave in the middle of the city, quiet, gated and safe for grandchildren to explore. And it's also actually pet free!

historic luxury hotel Wonderful hotel, with tons of history and charm. The pool and public spaces are fantastic. My only potential criticism would be that our room was a bit long in the tooth an could use a refresh- but this is definitely a hotel that is all about its history so it sort of fits. (And the history is cool- built by a woman, Isabella Greenway, who was the first Congresswoman from AZ, was married to not one but two guys who were Rough Riders at San Juan Hill, and much more). For example the closet is huge, like 8'x 6', over 20 square feet, because people used to move in for months at a time with steamer trunks. It is all casita style- so you have a little patio and the rooms are big. It is sort of a campus, and has beautiful gardens. It is very charming. and very central, near the university. I think they do a big wedding business. We only stayed one night en route to our stay at a dude ranch south of Tucson (Elkhorn ranch) and it was perfect. Definitely going back next year. The New York Times had an article about it being Linda Ronstadt's favorite hotel when she comes to visit her family.

Pleasant find in Tucson! This is such a beautiful place to stay. The room was very comfortable, staff were very helpful and friendly and it was located close to places to eat. The grounds were full of flora and the outdoor amenities were great! It was also very quiet and I slept like a baby. I also enjoyed the private patio that was outside my room. I highly recommend this place!

Excellent except for one major problem This is a lovely place where we have stayed many times. The service is impeccable, in most cases far above what is normal these days. The grounds are wonderful. Afternoon tea is a bonus, and it is nice to see newspapers still available. There is one problem, though: the dining room is closed most of the time, and patrons have to crowd into the bar, often with waits, to be fed. No one could explain to me why this was the case, and other luxury hotels in the region don't seem to have the problem. They have been saying for months full dining service is about to be restored but it never happens.

Historic hotel with a mattress to match I can understand why the Arizona Inn has been around so long and is so beloved! It’s a beautiful property with immaculate grounds (perfectly manicured, green lawns abound), the location is great (very charming, centrally located neighborhood), and all the staff we interacted with were very nice. The clientele is definitely older, and the aesthetic and amenities definitely feel tailored to an older country club crowd. Parking was a breeze, and getting in and out of the hotel was super easy. We stayed in a patio king room, which had lovely, semi-private outdoor areas. While the decor is old-fashioned, the room was very clean and outfitted with things like convenient plugs, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, etc., and was really spacious! But the mattress was a surprising deal breaker—creaky and saggy and turned into a taco when we laid on it. We aren’t particularly fussy about mattresses—in fact, we could only think of one other mattress this bad in our 12+ years of traveling together, and it was in an Airbnb. Unfortunately, this really affected the quality of our stay, and we wouldn’t stay here again for that reason alone. You can visit the hotel to enjoy the bar and restaurant, without sacrificing a good night’s sleep (and paying dearly for the privilege!).
