Alderbook Resort needs some help! I recently had the opportunity to visit the resort this week. Many of us arrived for the 4 pm check-in, only to be kept waiting until 6 pm to get access to our room. Once in the room, many things were not clean and I had to call the front desk to ask them to correct while I was at dinner. This was not done when I returned and I had to call again at 9:30 pm. In the morning around the fire pit, there were cans, trash, and glasses from the previous evening festivities. In years past, this area would be cleaned up the night before and you could sit in the morning with your coffee. There were also endless fingerprints and smudge marks on glass doors that were not being maintained. I felt bad for the organizer of our event because she works all year to make sure the week runs smoothly only to be given a curve ball from the resort. This is not what I would expect from a "resort". The spa personnel were nice and there was great attention to detail. Kudos to them. The bartender for our events was outstanding and took a lot of pride in his work! It's unfortunate that the management of the resort has not shown the appropriate leadership to their staff and set specific standards for the facility. The attention to detail and lack of urgency is obvious. I hope they can solve their internal issues as it's a beautiful location. Best of luck to the place.

Overall, a good experience A very lovely location and well run. Probably best to avoid during weekends especially in the summer as it is a very popular wedding destination. We had a courtyard room near the spa , which was spacious and comfortable. A couple of repairs were dealt with immediately. Avoid the rooms near the convention rooms as they can be noisy. The Spa was delightful with a variety of treatment’s available. Staff were very pleasant. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. Dinner was a disappointment.

Good Memories At Alderbrook We come every year to visit when my family from California is in town. We always make good memories when we come. My Grandson really enjoyed kayaking, swimming, and hiking. We also took advantage of the different games offered in the lobby, including chess and board games. We participated in looking for the nautical flags…fun! The food was great, my Grandson had steak all 3 nights we stayed. My Grandson found several different varieties of berries on our hike, including huckleberries, native blackberries, salmon berries, and thimble berries…..he tried them all.

Still a great trip for our family, but more issues than there should be for the price tag My family rented several cottages here in June 2024. First, the good: The location is beautiful! I love that you can swim in Hood Canal but that there's also a pool, and the pool is really amazing -- windows looking out on the water that can open, saline, lots of tropical plants, hours for families but also some reserved for just adults. I also loved that we could bring our dog (for a fee). The grounds are well-landscaped and well maintained. Staff are friendly, although not necessarily knowledgable -- we got different information depending on who we asked about things over and over again. The less-good: The cottages were tidy, but I wouldn't call them clean. There were white splatters on the couch, I stepped on a rock on the carpet in the main living area, my dog found random chip crumbs on the floor, the stovetop/kitchen area stank of bacon, and it didn't look like the the top of the fridge, the microwave, or the stove were clean, plus there was a ton of food stuck between the stove/range and counters. There was dust and cobwebs on the light fixture hanging directly over the kitchen table. Dishes are in the dishwasher when you arrive, and while they leave a note saying they'll put them away for you if you ask, it seems like they should just have it done, given how expensive these units are (around $2,300 for our cottage for 3 nights). We had paid something like $30/day for a pet fee but had to go ask for a dog bowl and dog bed. We also had to go ask for a TV remote that worked. We had a rude awakening our first morning because someone had set an alarm for 6am on one of the clocks. Cables were hanging below TVs, when it only takes a little velcro to clean them up! Although the base rate was the same for pet cottages and regular cottages, the pet cottages had a queen and king bed, whereas the regular cottages had 2 king beds. The restaurants are decent, but as others have noted, they're expensive for what you get -- on the patio, this means $8 for a beer and $17 basic cocktails that arrive in plastic cups, and $15-20 basic sandwiches; or a $9 bottle of kombucha and $10 gas station burritos from the Drinkery counter. We stayed during the week but had to contend with a wedding on a Thursday evening that also had a breakfast for their guests on the cottage lawn on Friday morning (so large trucks blocked the water view part of this time, and we didn't have full use of the lawn in front of our cottages). There was also a planned power outage with the public utility that was supposed to last "a matter of minutes," according to to Alderbrook, but that lasted 20 minutes one evening and 25 minutes the next morning; it also wiped out TV service and that wasn't corrected despite phone calls to the front desk, nor did they offer anything in return. All of the above issues are relatively small -- and our experience was still overall really good -- but for the price to stay here, we expected a little better.

Inconsiderate valet, lack of parking, overpriced food I stayed here for a quick getaway at 9 months pregnant with my toddler. The only parking spots available were for valet which were extremely close to the rest of the spots. When I explained that I could go into labor at any time and I need to keep my keys, I was told that wasn’t an option. I’m amazed at how little consideration I received when explaining my situation. Overall my stay was mediocre and left much to be desired with dated rooms, food that was meh, and an overall overpriced experience. I won’t return.
