Good location Spent 2 nights here at the beginning of a big holiday, spent mainly on Vancouver Island. It's a historic building with lots of character and vintage touches to the decor and furniture. We had a 6th floor corner suite, which was comfortable and well equipped, although it would have benefited from a refurbishment. The location right across from the beach is great, although that does bring some noise during the evening and into the night. Food in the attached restaurant was good. And overall the service was as expected.

Sleepless in vancouver Pros: Great location close to the park, bike rentals and restaurants. The hotel has lots of character and history. Polite employees. Decent sized room for a family of four. Cons: No air conditioning. We stayed on the 8th floor with windows open & ceiling fan on. It was pretty unbearable in the July 80F° weather. We have older children, so it wasn't an issue, but there are no bars on the windows. So nothing but an old screen preventing a small child looking out the window or sitting on the sill, from falling out the window. Also, it is a popular beach and area of town, so with the windows open it was very loud. Cars honking, people partying, sea gulls screeching all hours of the night into the morning. Needless to say we did not have a very good night sleep either nights we stayed.

Fine hotel in a great area. Stayed for three nights and was really pleased with the hotel. We had a King Beach Ave room which was spacious and well appointed. The building oozes character and the service was classy. The location was great for taking in many Vancouver sights, right next to Stanley Park for walks, and local bars, cafes etc. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night, food was great. Only small issue was slow service at the bar once, and the escalators did not work on the day we left. But there was help to get our suitcases down. Would recommend this hotel.

Overnighting at the Sylvia Hotel, Vancouver. The Sylvia Hotel is an iconic hotel on English Bay. Situated next door to Stanley Park, we wish we had stayed for longer than just the one night. We booked a standard room which was pleasant and accommodating. The hotel has its own car park underneath ($25/night). We ate dinner at the hotel and that, along with the service, was good. We didn't have breakfast there as there are many restaurants and cafe's in the vicinity. The area appeared very safe. Whilst it is an older style hotel it is very well appointed and we would happily stay there again.

Excellent Location for Exploring Vancouver Sylvia Hotel is located overlooking English Bay just outside Stanley Park and just a short walk into downtown so its location is excellent. The hotel itself is just charming, from the Boston Ivy covering most of the outside to the old photos on the walls showing how the hotel looked when it was first built - the history of the hotel is very interesting. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet with a large comfortable bed. It was slightly dated but that is all part of the charm! We had a fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. We did not eat at the hotel as there are lots of options to dine within a short walking distance. All in all we could not fault the Sylvia.
