Convenient hotel, with helpful staff. We stayed at the Hotel Santa Chiara last month, while celebrating our Honeymoon in Venice. It's a lovely hotel, well located on the mainland entryway to the islands. A spacious room situated between the bus-station and the vaporetti, though just out of the way enough to remain quiet. A special thanks to Lorenzo, for his formidable help saving our week. First when our booking got lost, through no fault of the hotel, by a third-party agent. And second on arranging a last-minute day-trip out to the beautiful island of Murano.

Five star amenities but the service puts it over the top! So…. let me tell you about our visit to Venice in October, when the days are shorter and evening arrives early. We were landing at Marco Polo airport in the dark, so not much in the way of arrival views. My elderly mother was travelling with me and I was very wary of stepping on to a bobbing boat in the dark- I didn’t want our first stop in Venice to be the hospital. So the fact that you can drive up to this hotel- one of the very few- put it squarely on my list. When I saw the room prices at that time ( early October prices seemed to be sky high) I groaned, but I felt the convenience would be well worth it. It was very, very worth it. We never put a finger on our luggage from the conveyor belt to the room. Thank you to our brilliant driver as well as concierge. But that’s not where the good service ended Next morning, extremely well rested, we had a chat with Lorenzo about things he might suggest for our first full day tour as newbies. He nodded, whipped out a map, drew the route to see all the major highlights of this unbelievable city- Murano, Burano, back to mainland, St.Marks Sq and everything in it, Rialto Bridge, gondola pickup, restaurants and where to catch the vaporetto back to hotel. Then the icing on the cake is that he arranged a water taxi from immediately outside the hotel to the islands and back to Venice. No charge!! Was it because of the time of year, or the higher room prices?? I don’t know but only later did I discover what a huge, huge bonus that was. Water taxis are expensive, but it provided us a great start to our amazing day. By the time the afternoon came around we were old pros and could navigate the vaporetto - and it helps that Hotel Santa Chiara is right next to a main stop. Definitely go! The hotel is modern, comfortable, immaculate, convenient and the food is divine. But also, ask for Lorenzo to help you plan your stay!!

Sixth time and still lucky Sixth stay at the Santa Chiara and it confirmed all the reasons we keep returning: lovely room with grand canal view, helpful reception, nice breakfast, convenient location. Reception went over and above this time as my husband had to spend a night in hospital and on that evening the hotel staff were very kind and helpful getting me a taxi to be at my disposal and checking that I was okay on my own. A little less helpful in the morning but my own fault for asking them to do something that actually I could really only do myself (i.e. talk to the hospital and it's not their fault my Italian is s poor). Hope to stay longer next time

City Visit Couldn't fault the hotel from location, at the end of the only road in to Venice, to close proximity to the rail station. Hotel was modern and well appointed. Staff were very helpful from getting water taxis to restaurants. Breakfast was continental and fine for us. Some rooms looked out onto the Grand Canal which can be busy at times. Close to the vaporetto, Venice canal buses, and the taxis. Trattorias within 5 mins. Family run hotel and you can tell because everyone cares. A little noise in the morning at rush hour but if you want to see Venice you need to be up early.
