Wow what a stay! :( Spent over a thousand dollars for a weekend couple stay for my wife's birthday. Here are the highlights: 1) Mold growing on the bathroom roof, you can see the spores and feel the tingle in your nose and throat. 2) Only one elevator worked. We stayed on the 7th floor; legs got stronger going up and down. We would have otherwise spent half an hour waiting on the elevator. 3) Patio door doesn't lock, great access for patio hopping thieves. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels across the country. This one disappointedly feels like a motel six despite being a Marriot brand hotel. It is very bland and overpriced for what it offers. Recommend you spend your money at many of the other hotels on the strip while you enjoy Virginia Beach.

Overpriced, outdated, non functioning elevator We started at this resort in August with family and friends. For starters they we’re down to one elevator. This made every elevator trip a 10-15 minute wait. The other elevator has apparently been down since the weekend prior. To get to the stairwell you had to walk through an extra room filled with everyone’s dirty sheets. The stairwells were disgusting with pulled up carpet and roaches. The breakfast, at an extra charge, was the same breakfast sandwiches, cereal, bagel, etc that is free at every other Marriott. The healthy starter sandwich was inedible. The room was decent although the throw latch on the door didn’t work. The shower curtain was also mildly. The room was outdated. One upside was the pool was nice and the beach location was great. The staff was also very nice. Overall the over pricing and elevator issues were a mess. if i come back, it won’t be to this Marriott.

Ok…but… We are here now in the middle of a 4-night stay. The hotel is ok, but since we arrived 1 of the 2 elevators has been out-of-service. This has been the case for 2 full days. This is just unacceptable for an 11-story hotel that seems to be near full capacity.

Pleasant Staff, average hotel I've stayed at this location a number of times in the past, and reviewed them before. I stayed again for 5 days this year. The location is good, the beach is nice, and the outdoor pool is nice. But this location has seen it's better days. I don't expect much from a beach location, and they delivered a bit less. They send an email before your visit telling you of all of the sanitation they do. They don't speak of housekeeping until you get there, when they tell you that there is none. This is deceptive, and clearly done knowing that you are unlikely to leave since you can't cancel at that point.. I asked if I could have a bedding change halfway through since this is a sandy beach area. I was given a resolute NO. When I pushed the topic, they told me it is a Marriott policy that no housekeeping staff are allowed to enter a guest room during their stay, unless you stay for 7 days. I contacted Marriott, and there is no such policy, but they will honor any property decision. Face it - this is a staffing issue where they can't hire staff at the low wages that they are offering, and the guests can just do without. Be transparent - tell me that it's a staffing problem and tell your gests that ahead of time. This Courtyard has cut their labor budget by 75% or more, and still charge the same amount. The problems didn't stop there. The closet doors wouldn't open - they were off the track and needed adjusted. We were careful since they are mirrored. The bathroom exhaust fan didn't work, and the bathtub took 15 minutes or more to drain. The shower wall was COVERED in mold. This room wasn't sanitized or maintained. There's no service elevator, so you'll share the 2 elevators with them and the 11 floors. Long waits. It rained one day, so we had the breakfast buffet - it's $13.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids. It was pathetic - worse than the free breakfasts you get at lower tier Marriott branded hotels. Overcooked bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. Some packaged cereal and muffins. They used to have eggs to order - not now. if you can't staff it, just don't even offer it. The hot tub was removed a couple of years ago, and the indoor pool was very dirty. On the positive side, most of the staff are very friendly. We won't be back anymore - this property has had enough chances and enough of my money.

Great property for family trips Traveled the week of July 18th with my family of four (two adults, 19 year old, 13 year old) and two other families for a total of 13 people. I liked that this property was located on the north end of the boardwalk where it is less crowded. The hotel was clean and I found all the employees I spoke to very helpful and always greeted me with a smile even though you could see they were short staffed like every place we went to that week. They didn't go in our rooms due to covid regulations but whenever I called for supplies they were always brought on a timely basis. Even though we didn't use the pool much the one day we went it appeared to be clean and well kept. My only problem with this property is they charge $10 a day for parking. I felt that being a Marriott member the fee would be waived but that was not the case. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.
