Holiday Inn Express Detroit-Warren by IHG

Great Stay! The hotel staff is gracious and courteous. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to Lake St. Clair. There a several lakeside restaurants on the wharfs in the local marinas so that you a get a real feel for summer in Michigan.

Absolutely HORRIBLE price gouging here!!! BEWARE So, I booked this hotel for a business-related training conference that is occurring over the weekend. I booked this in August 2023 for a November 2023 stay and booked under the government rate since I am a government employee on official business. Before I booked, I even called the hotel and spoke to a guy at the front desk and he said that they don't offer government rates on weekends but since I was booking online and it was letting me book, to go ahead and do it, so I did. I even verified with the online chatbot that it was good to go. Today, October 3, 2023, I received an email from the GM, Maurice, who stated that I could not get the $98 rate as contracted, and he had to raise my rate to $165/night. Maurice was respectful and explained that it's his hotel’s policy not to honor government rates on weekends, not IHG’s policy. I only stay at HIE's and have never had this happen nationwide. This was a first for me. He gave me a special military rate (I am not military) which was more that I could rebook for myself. I said to cancel my stay. Here's what I found out after some research. There is a two-day big concert (Metallica) at Ford Field that weekend, so it makes sense that he would try to extort me for more money thinking I am a concertgoer, which I am not. To wait a month before my stay to extort me was not nice. I think this hotel reflects poorly on IHG brands. I am an IHG member with frequent stays on their properties, but I will never use this particular one in the future. I am just blown away. Good luck to anyone else who tries to book here, be prepared to be shaken down.

Pleasantly surprised. I was pleasantly surprised here. Check in was easy and friendly. Main areas were clean. Room was clean and comfortable. Price was right. My only complaint is that the frig didn't have a freezer tray which would have been super helpful. But no complaints at all on cleanliness or service. Breakfast was what you would expect but clean and hot.

Five Star service. The Manager Maurice Canty was great. He has excellent customer service and exceptional leadership qualities. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and accomodating always asking us if we needed anything. This to us is an example of the leadership. The hotel itself is extremely clean and immaculate. Beds are very comfortable and the whole grounds are well kept. We would definitely stay here again.

Funeral Great place and location to where I was attending lots of places to eat very clean place grab n go breakfast was good I would recommend to place to friends and family love the coffee price very comparable to other hotel n motels plus I'm a ihg member
