Convenient Location Great location, close to the Metro and a handful of restaurants. The staff here is so nice and helpful. It was our first time to DC and they helped point us in the right direction through recommendations on must see sights. The room was clean and spacious. They missed the mark when they updated and should have provided more bathroom space with better lighting. The room itself was large and spacious. The bathroom was super tiny (the toilet leaves hardly any space to move in there) and lacks good lighting for applying makeup. You do not have an option to park your car on your own to save money (not really street parking). I would have been happy to pay the $50 parking fee if they also didn't charge an additional $40 hidden resort fee that was not disclosed when I made the reservation. Adding an extra $90 a night adds up fast!

Rough visit Based on reviews, and fact we got a good price online, we tried to be relaxed with our expectations-however it was still less than what we expected. Positives: - great location easy to get to and from and walking distance to decent food. - staff was nice. Manager Bruce was kind and upfront about HVac issues they were having. - modern and double room was quite large -valet was good Issues: - room was VERY musty smelling, VERY musty. Seemed like an ongoing issue not just a short time hvac issue. All our clothes smelled musty even though there less than 24 hours. Sheets felt wet when laying on them. - someone had been in our room and left things. The doors were supposed to have seals saying cleaned and ours was not quite right but we went in thinking it was just an accident. We realized later there was belonging left in the room. My guess is most likely someone checked complained about smell and got moved. We did not have the luxury to move as only room with doubles left. So that creeped us out. All they did when told about it is waive resort fee. - extra charges with resort, and if you choose valet is $50 - long wait for valet at midnight Bc lots of checking in for some reason at that time.

Amazing establishment and leadership This hotel was very clean and smelled fresh in the lobby . We were greeted by valet and they immediately jumped into action to get us squared away . The manager Bruce introduced himself and made sure our stay was accommodating. My sister left her iPad and the staff made sure it was located and even brought it out to us when we came back for it . I would definitely stay here again !!!

Hidden fees there were a lot of “hidden fees” that I was unaware of until After. 50 dollars a night to valet with no other options given to us for parking was a huge downfall for me. The $25 a night resort fee. My bigger issue would be; I thought I had booked a room with a big tub. Once I got to our room I realized I booked the wrong room. I called down and spoke to a very nice gentleman. I asked if they had a room with a larger tub available and they easily did. I told him I knew there would be an up charge to make up the difference. He told me not to worry about he would take care of it. We switched rooms no problem. I check out and get my bill via email. I was a bit put back by the fact that I was told the up charge would be “taken care” of but it wasn’t. Although I am in no way upset that I was charged a difference between one room and the other because as I said it was my mistake in selecting the wrong room when booking. I didn’t like being told one thing and another thing being done. (Unless it is a spa suite it will only have an apartment sized bathroom and tub) I went back to check the difference in price between the two rooms and see the difference was actually only $15 a night. The room I selected being $215 a night and the junior spa suite being $229 a night. The issue is I was charged $100 for the 2 night up charge which should have only been $30. All in all my $551 two night stay turned into a $782 bill that really didn’t feel worth it. Specifics on the appearance and condition of the room. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Lighting in the room was pretty cool with behind the bed lighting. For anyone looking for a “city view” there really isn’t one. The front of the building faces a street with a large building and some small shops including a lower level supermarket that was useful. The rear which was where our room faced was facing the pool and a boarded up abandoned building. Really not much to look out the windows for. In the lounge area the tv is bigger than the window. They put a large drape across the wall to make it look like a big window in the pictures but it was very small. The bathroom lights at one point while in the bath were flickering. Not sure why just turned off that set of lights for the remainder of our stay. One of the glass panels on the shower was also loose. Looks like the caulking just needed to be redone but hadn’t been. Something that could not be missed by staff while cleaning. Could honestly be a safety hazard. Closet doors didn’t close flush. Also inside the closet door there were gouges into the wood and paint from the safe being left open over and over again. The room had plenty of power outlets which was a plus. For me personally overall the room was not worth the $265 a night and I strongly believe how well you take care of your establishment reflects on how you value your patrons.

Excellent stay at the Royal Sonesta! My fiance (now husband!) and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta in DC for 2 nights for our wedding with our dog. We worked with Allie R. who was amazing at coordinating everything and made sure everything went smoothly. We stayed in a King Executive Studio Suite and were amazed by the large size of the room was and the gorgeous views we had of the city! The hotel room was spacious, exceptionally clean and they even included thoughtful touches for our dog such as a fluffy dog bed and 2 large bowls for food and water. In addition, all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions or needed anything. The location is also superb - it is located on a very cute street with lots of bars and restaurants and in the heart of Dupont Circle. We can't wait to stay at the Royal Sonesta again!
