Not ready for prime-time players I just stayed there for a second time, a year after the first time. It was not my choice either time. A year ago, the room had all kinds of little problems: a shaky faucet becoming disconnected from the sink, a burned out lightbulb or two, and something else (a cabinet that wouldn't close maybe). Last year I remember thinking: these people don't really have their act together, but someone told me it was under new management or new ownership or something. This year, I arrived and decided to have dinner in the hotel in the smaller bar area. I got menus from the bartender, we went to my table, he went away and simply forgot about me. About 20 minutes later, I went and found him and told him I wanted to order. (He comped me one beer.) The stuffed flounder was not excellent, to say the least, and was overpriced for what you get. (I do give the chef credit for the surrounding snowpeas not being sour or bitter.) All rooms in the entire hotel were out of any kind of Keurig pods containing caffeinated coffee. He were stuck with decaf or tea. When guests inquired at the front desk, they were told the hotel's "shipment has not come in" as if the hotel has no other way to get its hands on Keurig pods (one of my fellow meeting attendees simply walked over to a store for them) and given a voucher to get coffee in hotel's restaurant. Meanwhile, back at my room, the only thing amiss was that one window had two blinds and two curtains while the other one had two curtains and only one blind. But another fellow meeting attendee told me that in his room, the framed mirror on his wall was literally falling apart piece by piece without even being touched. In the lobby, I grumbled to some other guests, a family from Austria, about the slipshod hotel management, and as if on cue, the elevator we immediately got on had a door that kept opening and closing on its own without the elevator going anywhere (at first we thought it was overloaded, but when the two Austrian kids got off, the elevator was still freaking out). Overall, the St. Gregory is a first-class hotel burdened by a second-rate staff and third-rate management.

They even helped us w shipping items we forgot in the room! Food in the bistro was great. Very kids friendly. The area is very safe and its walking distance from Georgetown. We loved it there and will def stay there again!.

Fine hotel in downtown DC This is a nice hotel, and the staff are friendly, but I agree with some of the other comments - the noise the AC fan makes is very loud (akin to a loud noise machine) -- so if you are sensitive about that you may want to try elsewhere. The internet was also spotty (had to use my hotspot). Overall it was fine for the price.

Shabby and past its primr The room smelled of mildew and chlorine. The a/c was apparently powered by an unmuffled diesel engine and swung between 63° and 85° on about a 15 minute cycle. The "accessible" shower was broken and a jury-rigged repair had been attempted using a rusty hose clamp that locked the shower head at a height of 6 feet--out of reach of even non-handicapped people of modest stature. A $30 "guest amenities" surcharge was added to my bill, for which I got a $25 meal voucher which the hotel "forgot" to apply to my breakfast bill (still wrangling with them over that one--three days post-checkout). Location is convenient and valet parking was quick and efficient. Lobby is pretty and I didn't get bit by bed bugs. Otherwise, this place is a bust. Do yourself a favor--stay elsewhere.
