Second visit was a disaster Booked back into the same hotel on our second visit to the USA from Australia. Great staff still and very handy location, paid the extras on leaving and received receipt for $0.00. Yet a few weeks later we see more charges from this hotel on our credit card, we have tried to contact them, our travel agent has tried and no response at all. They will not even respond as to what the charges are for. Very poor customer service on the part of this hotel.

Hotel CLOSED I booked at Topaz and when I called to secure early arrival, I was told that the property would be under new ownership that week. NO mention of closing. My colleague arrived and was told by the front desk that they were out of business. As Kimpton is now owned by IHC, there is no point in booking with them as the main appeal was the boutique experience.

Can you believe this !? So I had prepaid reservation at Kimpton Topaz in DC yesterday. We called to confirm and were told the hotel has closed and “didn’t we get the email?” No we did not! Like what ? No place to stay. And now my wife is talking to Kimpton for an hour. They are very awful. Buyer beware. What is happening to this company!

Not up to Kimpton Standards This hotel has certainly seen better days. The front desk staff is flat and offers not a hint of welcome. Though our beds were pretty comfortable, the bathroom shows serious signs of age, with cabinet doors hanging askew, bubbling paint on the ceiling, and a backed-up shower drain that filled up to my ankles. The dining area at breakfast was littered with used dishes and plates, hardly an appetizing setting to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. The location is great, but this location falls flat when it comes to other Kimpton hotels.

Lovely and yummy Tucked into a quiet street and surrounded by restaurants, the Topaz is an excellent choice in the DuPont Circle neighborhood. My room was large, perfectly clean, well furnished and beautifully lighted. The included breakfast featured delicious coffee, juices and croissants as well as fruit and cereals. A variety of newspapers are free. In the evening there are two complimentary wine receptions! It’s a pleasant 20 minute walk to the White House and National Mall museums. Staff were all attentive and pleasant.
