A visit for the History Books The convenience of the hotel to Colonial Williamsburg was great, parking is convenient, and the property felt safe. The pool was refreshing and enjoyable. The fitness center doorway had a sign that read: "Employees Only." Our internet was spotty, and the TV did not work. The breakfast on Sunday morning was ok, but the atmosphere was dark and felt a bit dirty. The staff member monitoring breakfast was doing the best that they could, but did not present a professional appearance. The hotel is older and with older properties come maintenance issues that this hotel is caught in. The "steeples" on the roof were repaired, but not painted, showing off raw plywood. The roof had missing shingles. The room was spacious for our size group and the beds were comfortable. But was not clean - trash on the floor and caked in corners, a wet rug due to leaking toilet that was rocked off its seal. The elevator was damaged so that during our stay it was not usable consistently. During our stay we experienced a storm that produced an electrical failure that resulted in 3 fire evacuations and an extended outage. The staff was incredible and accommodating, keeping us informed when we asked what the next steps were. We decided to stay rather than check out, and for the inconvenience that we experienced we were credited back 100% of the room expense. Very kind and not required. Many people just left in frustration and anger. It would be really wonderful to see this hotel with a fresh coat of paint everywhere and new flooring, a great landscaping job, and a maintenance team that can handle the problems on a daily basis. A housekeeping team (that worked efficiently to keep rooms, halls and furniture clean and fresh) would serve it well also (as a pet friendly property this is a tall order). Unfortunately I think they are caught in the cycle of staffing shortages. It could be a great place to stay. Because we were credited for the stay and much of the disappointment came from the weather related evacuations, I give this an average rating. However, if we come to Williamsburg again, we will stay elsewhere. I don't believe that the cost of our room (~$125 per night) was justified given the property's condition and amenities.

There are more places far better to stay at. Electrical issue caused two fire alarms and evacuation. Staff communication was missing. Turned key in at 11;30 and drove home. Ruined family outing to Busch Gardens planned for next day. Will work on refund. But I think my membership in the rewards program will be canceled.

Fair Hotel Staff were very friendly. I was Grateful that the desk had 24 hours service since my plane had a late arrival. Checking in and out went smoothly. There was a variety of choices for Breakfast. Restaurant's staff were polite and helpful. Take out orders prepared promptly. Food was delicious.

Beware of train There’s nothing the hotel can do about your room being right next to the train tracks. They are active tracks so expect to be woken up by a train at random times of the night.

Stop on vacation travel Very basic and older hotel that needs TLC. Nice area but had a lot of issues. Those that could be addressed were but HVAC was a big issue along with exterior 1st floor and pool doors not locking
