Do not stay here if you have a dog! Let me begin at the beginning. I booked a room at this inn because I had heard good things and they are pet "friendly". The photos online showed a sprawling hotel with a lake view. They reported a private beach. I asked for early check in because we were traveling with my small dog. When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk. I waited at least 5 minutes and then a woman came out of the back room. I asked if our room was ready. She looked and said it was not ready. i mentioned I had asked for early check in. She informed me that it was not noted and she would text me when the room was ready. No smile, no warm greeting. 2 hours later we got the text. I cannot describe how disappointed I was in the room. It was a classic dog room. There was a wet dog smell when we entered. The room was next to the front desk. I should have know when they gave me a key and actual key that it would be outdated. The furniture was old. It was dark because they had a few lamps. Old Old Old. Stains on the ceiling, the bathroom door did not close properly. We reported that there was something wrong with the fridge( it had leaked) and the young man made a note of it-it was never fixed!!! I asked where the beach was-first thing I was told-cant take the dog there. The"beach" was a very small section with two lounge chairs. You needed to walk down a stony path to get there. Was not worth it! Second day- we left for the day and returned. The room was not cleaned. I asked at the front desk and was told they do not have the staff for housekeeping and it was written on the card but the woman said, someone should have gone over it with you when you arrived( she was the person who checked us in) They gave us two tiny barrels, never emptied them so trash was overflowing. Look, if people do not want dogs at the hotel, do not say you are dog friendly and then shove people with dogs in a musty, old, dark room!!! Never again people-do not stay here!

Judgmental of Disabilities My family has been going to Wolfboro every summer for roughly 45 years (which is before I was born, so all of my life.) This year, my family was up for their yearly 2 week stay and I decided I was able to come up for a few days with my gf and dog. I'm only able to come up for a few days due to personal issues and, not to go into it, need an emotional support animal when doing so. I've never had a hotel have an issue with an ESA and want to charge $50 for one. My dog is trained, will not bark in the room, will not make a mess, and is most hypoallergenic (he sheds a little but not much.) Anyway, we called the Wolfeboro Inn a few days prior to arrival just to let them know we're bringing him and will have paperwork etc. We were met with the downplaying of my disability and them letting us know unless we were "physically disabled, like being blind..." etc. we need to pay. While hotels, don't *have* to waive a fee for ESAs, it's crazy to hear someone actively dismissing a "mental disability" compared to a "physical disability". I know people have their opinions on mental health, and unfortunately it is seen as *lesser than* compared to things you can "see" but when you live with it, you know it is very real. The difference between what you "have to do" and what is the "right thing to do" makes all the difference to show the heart of a company. If this ended up being a supportive hotel, that wasn't stuck in the stone-ages, it would have 100% become our yearly place to stay -- but unfortunately we had to cancel and never will be stepping foot into the establishment. It's a win/win I suppose, I will receive the ~$330 back that I paid for 2 nights and they can hopefully book someone they actually want as a guest. I'm sure it's a fine hotel, but it's the first one (and we've stayed in major hotels as well as boutique hotels) we've ever had this issue with, so just be warned prior -- if you're bringing an animal, make sure you have enough of a disability for their liking.

Very nice but one problem I agree that the hotel needs some refurbishing. But it's right on the lake and has a private beach that was small but really nice. Within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Main Street Our biggest problem was people at the reception desk on arrival and departure. The woman at the desk when we arrived was very unfriendly and could barely be bothered to look up from her screen. It was so odd because people greeting you at inns are usually so nice. She seemed annoyed that we were there. Then the next few people were lovely. But the WORST was on our last day, July 4th. We knew there was a parade so my partner got up early and inquired when it would begin. The young guy at the desk had NO IDEA. Then when we checked out at 9:45, the bellman said, "Oh you may not be able to leave the hotel until the parade ends." What??? No one said anything at all about that, not one word, or even a sign saying, "On July 4th Main Street will be closed to traffic between 9:00 and noon." So we were literally going to be trapped in the hotel for hours?? Luckily we JUST got on the road before it was lined with pepple and chairs. Sorry it had to end this way.

Could be so much better Firstly the room it self was very nice. Recently renovated, clean and a good size. No view as such but a working fridge and non noisy A/C. However I was extremely disappointed in our stay. The main areas of the hotel where dirty and un vacuumed made worse by plates not being available for the breakfast which is served in the main foyer, this resulted in crumbs and food on the furniture and carpet. The breakfast was underwhelming but eatable. However the main problem was non of the iteams where replenished when used. I heard one person ask if they could have some bagels as they had all gone and was told no. I was the first person down one morning and counted 6 yogurts and 8 bagels for a hotel that had 14 rooms booked that night. On the two nights we stayed no hot water was available. This is disappointing when you read previous reviews from several months ago who report the same problem. I think it is abit cheeky to charge a resort fee during the week for facilities such as the restaurant and bar when are only open on the weekend. While one of the receptionist was very nice and helpful, the other was abrupt and distracted. For the priced charged one would have expected more and I certainly feel it is expensive for the what you get.

After the upgrades this may be a very nice place to stay. Luxurious no, but should be fairly nice when renovations are complete. We spent one weekend night in May and there were some issues. Had to wait 10 minutes for hot "rusty orange" water, although the bathroom was new, nicely appointed and very clean. The heating and cooling of the room we stayed in was not updated yet. The furniture seemed fairly old, a bit worn, and very sparse. The room definitely needs more light. We couldn't open the drapes because of the "open to the neighbors" view across the street and mechanical equipment right outside our window. We had to rig up the drapes to access the AC which was covered by them. Once again these things should be improved when renovations are completed. The floor was tilted in our room so it sometimes felt a little off kilter - probably due to being in the historic section. The bedding was new, clean and very comfortable. The room rate was $244 per night, which seems reasonable in the off season, but there are lots of added fees. There is a "resort" fee and if you want to use a credit card you must pay a 5% "convenience" fee. So I guess they want you to pay with a check or cash?? Not too many people walk around with $400 in cash. And there are added taxes to everything along with a $70+ fee for incidentals charged to the room, but this is refundable although it's been a week and we still have not received the credit. The final bill was a bit difficult to understand and other guests agreed with this assessment. Bottom line, plan on spending extra $. Summer rates can be over $600 per night in Wolfeboro so the Wolfeboro Inn needs some major upgrades to meet that type of expense. The location is very nice, in the center of town, with many cute shops and restaurants. It is right next door to the Wolfeboro Corinthian Yacht Club. The restaurant, Wolfe's Tavern, was very dark and it needs some upgrading as well so a guest may be happier visiting a local restaurant although the Wolfe's is a good place for drinks after an event. The front desk staff was helpful, and very personable, although not fully experienced yet. Once the renovations are completed and staff is more experienced this should be a nice, but probably pricey, place to stay.
