What is the Holiday Groupon Bucks Giveaway?
We sent an email to select customers letting them know that we’re giving out $100,000,000 in Groupon Bucks to kick off the Black Friday holiday shopping.
How do I know if I was given Holiday Groupon Bucks?
Just go to Groupon.com on your computer and log in (if you are not already logged in). On your computer you will know you are logged in successfully on Groupon.com if you see your name in the top right corner of the page. If you received Groupon Bucks, you’ll see the amount in a bar at the top of the page on Groupon.com. If you're on our touch site (on your phone's mobile browser, for example), you won't see this bar, but you’ll see any Groupon Bucks you’ve scored applied at checkout.
How long do I have to use these Groupon Bucks?
These Groupon Bucks expire so use them fast. Customers receiving between $1 and $500 in Groupon Bucks will have until 11:59:59 p.m. PT on November 29, 2013 to redeem towards one deal. Customers receiving the Groupon shopping spree equivalent to $5,000 in Groupon Bucks will have until December 31, 2013 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT to redeem. Customers receiving the shopping spree equivalent to $25,000 in Groupon Bucks will have until December 31, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT to redeem.
How do I use my Groupon Bucks?
Customers receiving between $1 and $500 in Groupon Bucks will be able to use them toward the purchase of one deal—so choose wisely. Simply find a deal you want by searching Groupon. Click the “Buy!” button and your Groupon Bucks will automatically apply to your purchase at checkout.
Customers who receive the $5,000 in Groupon Bucks will be able to spend their Groupon Bucks now and throughout the holiday season—they will expire on December 31, 2013 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT. Simply find deals you want to buy and the Groupon Bucks will be applied as you make your purchases.
The customer who receives $25,000 in Groupon Bucks will be able to spend their Groupon Bucks now through 2014—they will expire December 31, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT. Simply find deals you want to buy and the Groupon Bucks will be applied as you make your purchases.
If the total of your purchase is greater than your available Groupon Bucks, your credit card will be charged for the remaining balance owed. You'll need to have a credit card saved in your account to use Groupon Bucks, even if you’re spending less than the amount of Groupon Bucks you earned. But don’t worry--we won’t charge your card unless you exceed the amount you have in Groupon Bucks. You can add one on your Credit Cards page under "My Account”.
What can I use my Groupon Bucks for?
Your Groupon Bucks can be used towards anything on the site except Groupon gift cards, Getaways Market Pick hotels, taxes and shipping.
Is there anything else I need to know if I receive $5,000 in Groupon Bucks or $25,000 in Groupon Bucks plus $5,000 cash?
If you receive $5,000 in Groupon Bucks or $25,000 in Groupon Bucks plus $5,000 cash, Groupon may be required to report your award to the IRS for tax purposes. This would require you to provide certain personal information to us, such as your address and taxpayer identification number. If this is the case, someone from Groupon will reach out to you for the information. Don’t worry though – Groupon will cover any tax assessment applicable to these awards.
If you receive $25,000 in Groupon Bucks plus $5,000 cash, Groupon may ask you to sign a release document so that we can use your name in an announcement about your award. You’ll also need to give us certain information so that we can mail a $5,000 check to you.
How do I sign up for a Groupon account?
Head to www.groupon.com/users/new to sign up for a Groupon account. Fill in your name and email address (the email address where you received our email) and create a secret password. Then, click the “Sign up” button.
We’ll send you an email to verify your email address. Just click on the “Verify Account” button in the email to verify your account. Then, you can sign in at www.groupon.com by clicking “Sign In” in the upper right corner. Use the email address and the password you gave us. Once you’re signed in, you’ll see your name appear in the upper right corner instead of “Sign In/Sign up”.
