Can You Cancel a Hotwire Reservation?
It depends. Hotwire is a third-party service for bookings, so often whether or not you can cancel or change a reservation depends on the individual company’s policies. For example, if you booked a rental car on Enterprise through Hotwire, you’d be subject to the Enterprise cancellation policy. Here are the official policies for each type of booking:

How to Cancel a Hotwire Reservation
If your reservation allows for cancellations, you can cancel online. (Refunds can take up to 30 days to process.) Here’s how to do it:
- Sign in to your Hotwire account
- Click “My Trips” and select the reservation you want to cancel
- Click “Cancel” (This button will only be there if your trip is cancelable)
If your reservation is coming up (within 48 hours), it would be wise to contact Hotwire directly for faster service. Trip Protection
When you book a reservation on Hotwire, you’ll see an option to purchase “Trip Protection” for an additional cost. Depending on the policy you choose, it may include coverage for trip cancellation. This can give you a little extra peace of mind if your plans change.
Tip: If you purchased your trip with a credit card, it may already be covered. Several credit cards offer trip cancellation coverage (usually ones that offer travel points or money back on travel). If this is true of your card, try contacting the credit card company to see if you can recoup the cost of your cancelled trip.
Cancellations Due to COVID
Even in the case of COVID, whether or not you can cancel or change your reservation will depend on the reservation. If you contact customer service and tell them your situation with COVID, there may be some leeway.
- Hotwire recommends calling 1-866-468-9473 for Hot Rate hotels and all car rentals
- And calling 1-866-394-2015 for flights, standard rate hotels, and travel packages
Hot Rate Deal Cancellations
Technically speaking, Hot Rate Deals are non-refundable—but there may be some wiggle room depending on the situation and your reservation. You won’t be able to cancel online, but you can call and plead your case with a Hotwire representative at 1-866-468-9473.
